You mean you actually teach Scoutmasters how to cook ?? Things sure have changed sicne I as a Scout!! ;D Well maybe not, cause David and I were doing some teaching even then! I think old buddy that if I were you I would get myself a couple of #14 cast iron pans with lids and use them for the mountain man breakfast and the red beans and rice although if you must use the monster for something I would suggest the rice and beans. That way you can put two people to stirring the eggs and avoid browning them and get two trainees actively involved. You have heard of "kinestetic" and "active" participation I am sure. Additionally, not to nit pick, but you guys really really should be doing your training with the same equipment the Scoutmasters have readily available to them or what is on hand. Tell you a secret too. You can make super cobblers in the # 14s ! They aren't quite deep enough for chile and corn bread or stew and biscuits though. What are you cooking those in?

I like to use the smaller fry pans or a grill for the bacon because of how much grease is so quickly generated. A big pan is just too difficult to keep it under control.

Here's what you need! tinyurl.com/4g34sJust tell everyone they're having chili for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between. Use your 24" skillet for cornbread. Seriously, I want to second the suggestion that you use multiple skillets and ovens in a smaller size. Also, you could use multiple griddles. The main reason I suggest this is that you could adjust the foods from cooking to warming, etc. as the people move through. After all, with 60 people, everyones not going to be able to grab all at once. There's going to be a line no matter what. With multiple pans you can have a rotation of food so everyone gets something "hot" without them being overcooked. Also, every person will want different amounts of different foods. So, you'll be able to guestimate when to stop throwing sausages on the grill. Of course, I'm a 4'11" lady so a 24" cast iron skillet is going to be less than easy for flippin' eggs, bacon & sausage. Heather,
Like I have been saying he/she who dies with the biggist toys wins ;D ;D ;D ;D...that pot reminded me of my youth...lard rendering...although not nearly as big (100 or 150 quart) our pots where huge...can you imagin the shipping cost of that thing? ? plus the bulk, a 20 qt is a fairly good sized pot and this is 17 times bigger than that..heck that's about the size of a VW ;D
