Frankly, my dear, I'm actually working on one now...not for public consumtion..just our old family recipes that keep showing up at family functions until that person is dead and gone then no one knows how to make it...next one after that just might be for making money or just to give to my dear friends ;D ;D

I'm in the slow painful process of typing out each recipe in a word program as most of them are hand writen on plain sheets of paper or on recipe cards..haven't thought that far ahead about publishing, yet...

trblmandy, There are a lot of recipes already posted in the forums you could pickup on.But my thoughts would be is ask for what you need.....Main dinner, dessert, snack, wild game, soups, casseroles whatever.Beef, pork, poultry, seafood? ? Just a thought. Hmm I think an OCC cookbook is a neat idea.Maybe see Paws&Emeril on the cooking channel together????Don't laugh, stranger things have happened. snake-eyes

Mandy if you have the time to put something together I do not have a problem with you using the recipes posted here as long as you give full credit to the author on the page with the recipe and the last page of the cook book. Check with Toby and see how publishers treat such publications with respect to copywright laws and such and we'll see how much trouble we could get into using Ohio Camp Cooks name or mine. I would like to have an OCC cookbook published but an not sure we are ready for one yet. I'd like to see a couple hundred recipes to choose from, more outdoor cooking techniques discussed which could be included, recipes using the technique discussed, photos, a spiral bound presentation with a glossy hard cover, organized by category of dish with technique subdivisions, then dish for example Meat>grilled>grilled pork chops or Meat>BBQ>BBQ pork or Meat>fried>Weinerschnitzel or something like that. Play with the idea and see what you think. I guarantee it will be alot of work. Like I say, I don't think we are ready yet.... ;D

Well, what did you expect from a gal that don't do dishes! Mandy, a cookbook is a great idea, but as Paws said, it needs to be more than just a book full of random recipes. Take a minute and decide what structure and layout you'd be comfortable with then cruise through the recipe box and see what's available to fit in with your needs. I'm highly of the opinion that if the title contains "Camp Cooks" then it should have chapters discussing not only outdoor cooking and fire tending, but paniers, pantries, preservation techniques, portability, etc. I've seen a few rare books with such info and they were extremely helpful to me.

Won't Do Dishes! Now I know why Addison is eating only Slim Jims! LOL Awww, it is a lot of work but if you apply the "eat an elephant" method it'll be done in no time at all.
