Welcome Princess. Let me echo my friend's greeting. These folk are indeed good people. There isn't a clinker in the bunch. We might poke a little fun at you from time to time but know that we will also laugh at our own selves too. So tell us a little about yourself so we can get started ribbing you about something or the other. Glad to have you among us.

Lets see....a bit about me. I am already a grunt for a liv'n but now I can add Water Fetcher. LOL Born and raised Austin, Texas. I'am sure u can poke at that one. Currently trying to stay sane in a world I don't want to understand and get to a special someone and live in one that makes sense not only to my mind but my spirit and ((HEART)). I LOVE camping and look forward to a LOT more of that in the future. I think being here will be a great benefit as when I have camped in the past I lived off of trail mix, hot dogs, pre-made macaroni salad from home and capri suns. Mom and Dad had one them pop up campers and on the door when driv'n down the road you could read my mothers funny little motto "Presto's Traveling Circus" on the door of the pop up. Not like the Zepher station wagon was embarrassing enough. OK... gave you all some ammo... LOL ~PRAM

Camping gives the body, spirit and heart a tremendous amount of renewal. It is not a skill; rather, a set of skills including survival, hunting, fishing, fire building, trapping, cooking, ....etc. The more skills you achieve the more enjoyable the experience and inversely the less gear you need. I enjoy the creature comforts so the more I can pack in the hapier I am. I think haing a TV or DVD in the middle of nowhere along with a campfire and a well prepared meal is just cool. Our friend Elk Chaser is on the other end of the spectrum and is content with a pocket knife or even less for weeks on end in various forms of wilderness, testing his skills. Mars needs his blanket! Other than that he is content with whatever else comes along. I guess the trick is really to learn to appreciate all of the neat things one has to make life easier while at the same time having the capability to do without them and being perfectly happy with nothing and providing everything needed to sustain life with one's bare hands. Being Special Forces you should have learned that by now. There is indeed an awful lot of expertise here and much that may be learned.

Naw, Chaser would rather go in a loin cloth at most. Me now, I'd be lookin' for somewhere to put the battery pack! And you know I could load on more if they were filled too!

Glad to have you join us Princess Runamuck! A sho'nuff Texican, huh? Well, it's awright, we'll let ya play. We even got a skinny preacher from Arkysaw we let in, so you got nuttin' ta worry about... 'cept Paws. ;D Funny about the popup with the sign. Back in the eighties my popup had a sign over the door too; it said,"Hunter's do it deeper in the bush, shoot off more, and eat their game" I didn't put it there, the guy i bought it from did, but it was tacky enough I left it there!
