Yes we found a dozen areas that had the trees cut about 5 ft high and all under brush removed. also about a thousand plants that had been planted and that many more in cups ready to be planted. found two camps with three tents for living and another for food New sleeping bags 8 tents air beds, 2 Coleman stoves, and 19 bags of corn tortilla's, 25# beans 8 100 ft water hoses (the high-bucks ones). a brand new 5 hp gas pump and 500 feet of 2" water pipe. the best part they open some mity fine shooting lanes.
We may have a weed raider sale. Yard sale.
All the plants were 2 to 4 " tall. Helped the Sheriff Dept. dig up as many as could be found. Their conclusion was that was closet to the biggest operation found in the area. I asked about TAGS. and the deputy said you get one free tag for each one shot. ;D

Didja "cinfiscate" everything you could get your hands on? Illegal beaners got no rights to own nothing, so take it all and give it to charity if you got no use for it.
Them tortillas and beans might make some pretty good hog bait if you soak 'em, lol.
You ought to have set a few punji pits near the pot stash. That'll persuade them to move on!

It seems like every archery season one of these 'farms' is stumbled on by a hunter. Some of them are pretty extensive with the amount of terrain farmed and routing of water. In a couple cases the water came from better than a mile away.
And yea, were I to stumble on a camp like that I would have some new gear, and so would all my friends.....

Went back up to the deer lease today. The Sheriffs dept had the place closed off. Talked to the sarg in charge. Said the wetbacks were in there and collecting gear and said they had 6 or more pined down. and trying to flush them out. Also said they had some big GUNS He also told me that a big hole 6x8 and 8 foot deep (I thought was a trash pit) was not a trash pit but was there for other disposal use Also tole me they had a suspect, Apparent when he bought the pump, pipe, water hoses bought them on farm use and signed the farm ezempt. papers with his telephone #. Now he's real smart. ;D About the Immigration, the Job marker is way down. But the Weed market is up so the go where the money is. Gunna hurt us hunters. Bill

Be careful amigo! Them brush poppin' greasers are just as liable to leave you in a hole as they are to run from you. Watch your six!
Ain't had no use for none of them except their 18-24 yo senoritas, in a long time. They damn fine workers, but they'll steal you blind in a heartbeat too. Last good one died on that plane with Buddy Holly and the Big Bopper!

Toby, Some months ago the local paper ran a series of articles on the cultivating thing. Although some is done by folks doing it on their own rural properties. Most is being done by the beaners trying to pay off there debts to body smugglers. They usually do this deep in the woods of our National and State Forrest in Ohio. These operations are generally fairly large. Last one I saw busted included a $6Mill confiscation of plants. They showed photos of a few of the camps that have been raided. These cultivators were living very frugal lives to say the least. Not very many arrest are made in the raids and those that are are for the most part, not prosecuted if they co-operate. They are usually just sent back home. I don't know but I would think they are in deep do do weather they go to prison or are sent back home. ;D snake-eyes

Now that explains a lot! Old boy come out to number 10 Hollow, old coal mining road in spittin' distance of the state game reserve threw up a hundred thousand dollar cabin for cash ande offered cousin Chris fifty large for his 3 acres on top of the hill adjacant to the state property. You guys start hunting in pairs and leaving an itinerary with your loved ones before going in the woods.

Because of the pot farms archers have been running across here in Az it is now legal for me to pack a pistol while I am archery hunting. Didn't used to be. What is reported here is the Cartel's are the ones behind them using poor slobs for the grunt work. And yes they will fling rounds your way on occasion.
You guys should see pictures of some of the farms in California where I was working fires last summer. Some extensive operations there and the govt seems to be looking the other way.

I wonder how many of those operations are responsible for the fires.

Ain't had no use for none of them except their 18-24 yo senoritas, in a long time. ! Aw Toby...you need "Uncle Rogue" to edumacate you about them senoritas from down south of the border. They will either give you a case of the ;D or stick a knife in your back first chance they get. They ain't no good for much of nothin'! Y'all be damned careful around operations like is going on there, Bill! Those SOB's are totally ruthless and have nothing to lose. Again...be damned careful! I ran across something similar a while back while Jeeping across country and the SOB's pulled guns on me. At least these were Anglos cooking meth and I knew them. They figured I was harmless and didn't do anything stupid that they'd have regretted. I'd have taken a few with me, and when my brothers finished with the rest, they would have prayed for Injun torture. I didn't snitch on them, but the Sheriff's Dept already had an eye on them and pulled a raid a few days later. I think the whole mess of them are behind bars now. -Rogue-

Some may or may not know it,but the ATF still make raids on moonshine stills in the hills of OH,PA,KY,WV,VA,MI and most points south. There is a lot more going on in the hills than pot cultivation. But, of course the shine is American made. Buy American. snake-eyes

Yes sir they surely do. The ATF and DEA are both regular visitors around here. One of our buddies here on the boards, whom I shall not name, does some work for them on occassion. Hands on field work that is; not snitchin'. Out in New Marshfield about six years ago I visitatin and noticed some new folk in town. All male around 22 to 28, GI haircuts brand new casual clothes and driving two identical plain wrapper, no chrome (no doubt in my mind) GSA graage issues. I laughed my butt off! Inconspicuous as all hell I thought!

The Unicoi County Sheriffs Dept. raided a still about a year or so ago and netted 75 gallons of shine. Tn. law then allowed the sheriffs dept. to sell the moonshine which he did. Talk about a b.s. legal system. A citizen gets busted for selling moonshine without paying taxes, which is the law being broken as making alcohol is legal with a permit, and the police can sell the same thing, tax free, and it's legal.

They paying taxes on the sugar, Mars. Ain't like the government ain't getting it's cut at all. Daddy got a still....very small time, he only runs a couple of gallons at a time and the "shine" he gets out o fit ain't hardly worth bothering with, but he does it from time to time just for grins. It does come out awfully strong! You just about gotta cut it with something or it'll hit ya hard! Nobody I heard of around here with any type of still to run off enough to sell. But, them weed growers are everywhere. Even worse, Roguey brought up the meth boys. You can't find a vacabt building anymore that the damn meth labs aren't taking over. They busted one in Ocala a couple of months ago on the edge if an orange grove set up in a big Airstream camper. A BIG money bust, too. Three weeks before that they busted the same guys in another trailer in another grove. That's Florida's revolving door justice for you!

My younger sister ran a still for many years under the "personal use" laws. She always added fruit to her jars. My wife enjoyed eating the fruit and getting plastered. She ate a whole jar of grapes once. Took her a few hours but she did it. Good thing she can't walk to start with.LOL!

Has anyone ever wondered who the most powerful person in a county is? County commissioners,Sheriff??? Would you believe that, at least, in Ohio it is the County Coroner.....Better known as Medical Examiner.

Because he cannot make it and sell it and be legal. He has to steal it from somebody else under the "confiscation" laws then he can sell it. He also sells the marijuana plants he finds to "research" companies. Atleast here in Washington County our Sheriff takes the moral high road and destroys what is confiscated.

The Sheriffs Dept. talked to the land owners. and they got pissed. and threw everyone off the lease. said they were going to sell.
Now today the Dept, in charge of the investing called me and asked how much land was in the lease. I do not know and told him so. He said they had a fly over and said where we were there was 27 or more patches, but there was patches all up and down that creek about 14 miles, and he guessed there are at least 200 wetback working the fields. He said this has turned into something real big.
Bill
I think them land owners don us a good favor.
