With everyone being so nice here, can I stir things up a mite? ;D I've been so far away from the "other BB" that I'm actually starting to enjoy life more! I'll bet that I haven't made more than 10 posts in the last month. Hell! Use to be a time that ya couldn't shut me up unless they locked me out! Soooo! Can we pick on Phil?

Glad you are winning that one Bill! Man I know how hard it is to do. The good Lord took the desire from me once upon a time and I was too damneddumb, ignorant and proud to do right by it . Woke up the morning after slavation with nary a twinge of want for the smokes I had been on beter than 20 years and was at two packs a day. Went a little over three months without even wanting a puff then picked them back up and wasn't a week before I was back at 2 packs a day. Took fourteen hard years to get rid of the habit next time. That will be five years next month!! "Praise God!!"

I have two suggestions. First, move the 'Gunsmith's Workbench' to the rest of the firearms related stuff. That'll help minimize confusion, and make it easier to navigate amongst the gun topics.
Secondly, how about a forum devoted to gardening, lawncare, and related subjects. Maybe call it the Horticulture forum or something. Last year, I got back into gardening, and had a great time at it! A good garden gives me the same satisfaction that harvesting and butchering a deer does. Waddayathink?

You know Paws, Bloddlust has a good idea. After all we are ALL trying to eat better and what better than wild game and fresh home grown veggies cooked outdoors on the family fire pit? I like it. No preservatives or chemicals allowed....

I'm afraid you'll have to get the approval of the new Gardening Board's Moderator!

This forum gets better and better you add a gardening section here and this forum will soon have to be renamed into "The Self Reliance Forum".
I find this very good that more and more people begin to think of the past where food as been grown or raised for personal use. Slowly more people figure out the pleasure in growing and producing food and it is better food too.
I am all for a gardening section.

Give me some ideas guys and gals. I plan to add forums for bikers, hikers, backpackers, archers, survivalists, environmentalists, boaters, white water rafters, etc. What else do we need to cover all the bases? I want to make this an informative, fun place to visit and a place to obtain reliable, knowledgeable advice and opinions. I guess this is really where I should have posted the idea about a conversation campfire where all these various folk could bring up potentially controversial stuff within a framework that might ensure we can maintain an enjoyable conversation. How can we enjoy the campfire, maybe the whiskey, the stars and still have a good time talking about things that may bring up disagreements (even if we are having nicotine withdrawal or PMS)? It is possible that most folks here share the same views, but maybe there are folks who just know better than to open their mouths about anything that may demonstrate a disagreement. Maybe that's how you want to keep it and if so, that's cool. But if this campfire is really about welcoming everyone perhaps a conversation campfire for the hot topics, with some mutually agreed upon expanded groundrules, may not be such a bad idea. Rogue kind of captured what can happen in the following post: Rogue 1/17/05 snip snip There are too many hyenas over there that are hungry for blood, and I just don't have the patience to deal with them anymore. It's one thing for a couple of members to have a disagreement...but lately the whole bunch of losers and rabid dogs pile into the fray over there until there is nothing left to salvage...not friendships...not even self respect. I sense that no one wants to see that sort of thing happen here. I trust Paws wouldn't let that happen but why not take a preemptive approach by creating a specific area for folks to explore hot topics in a space with some specific groundrules? Oh, BTW, I found another nice description of Paws groundrules: 8/15/2004 Welcome to Ohio Camp Cooks! Let me take this opportunity to shake your hand and invite you to come sit by the campfire and join in in "sharing what you know" and "learning what you don't know." That's what Ohio Camp Cooks is all about. Well, that and preparing good food outside and sharing it with our friends. We are a gathering of hunters, hikers, campers, fishers, bikers, etc who all have a need for understanding what to do with our bounty collected from nature or simply how to keep ourselves fed while we participate in our outdoor hobbies. We are also about keeping track of how food preparation has evolved throughout history and passing that information to future generations. Grab a stump and make yourself comfortable. You will be treated like family as long as you act like family. Say what's on your mind, but keep it clean, honest, respectful, and friendly. Any less and you will be cordially invited to leave.

I don't mind where anybody puts anything. I do mind not being able to find it later on though. So please at least try to keep things more or less organized under a topic of some related concept. I can see this post might fit Campfire, Soap Box, or if you want you might even put a thread under mainstreet and make a "mini-blog" or diary for Broadwell, or KJ, or Athens' Own, etc. I don't mind disagreement or controversy either. That's how we learn things or at least new things. Now about you and Noodles running nekid through the woods.
