Griz do you think that rig you put me on with the Super Full choke and the 12 ga mag hevi-shot would be too much for long range squirrel? I'm thinking about carrying it to Michigan along with a a couple 22LRs, a 410 pump and single. I thought it might be better than the rifle for long shots since I do not like the idea of the bullet travel up up and away.

Well it will surely kill a squirrel out a long way. BUT you may wind up with squirrel burger as you will fill their scrawny arse furry tree rat body with lead shot!

LOL! I've hunted squirrel with a 12 ga ever since I was a kid. And once in a while you don't have much left but hind quarters! Shot one I had to pick the clean bore primer out of! I was thinking though that thing holds such a tight pattern that a head and shoulder shot at 60 or 70 yards is pretty realistic. Awwww heck I guess I'll stick to the full choke, three inch shells and shoot at close range! ;D

Well now you'd think so; but, I had a rabbit shot with a 12 ga JC Higgens bolt action 3 inch shell back in 62 what got up and tried to run away with his skin half off! ;D

Actually mars we call them mortars! We have two of them. One is around 200 maybe 250 pounds the other is 400 pounds. Usually, two men lift, haul, or move them; but on occasion the Captain's 17 year old daughter has been known to toss the big one in the wagon by herself!

I figured cannon. I was just joshing with you. There's a Blacksmith up at a place called Amish Acres here that makes cannons and shoots them on a local farm. He made a couple for the movie Gettysburg. He makes a shot charge of 1/2" lead balls placed between wood disks in several layers. He also makes smooth bore rifles and shotguns.

Cool! ;D We are planningto build a third mortar. Have enough crews for three now so might as well enlarge the battary. That with six muskets and now if we can link up with the Confederate Air Force and get some of Shiloh's nukes...

Who needs the air force? Lob those nukes out of the mortars and run like crazy! ;D When I was in Ft. Sill I got to see the Army's Atomic Annie. The worlds only Artillery piece that fired a nuke round. Ft. Sill still has a actual old time half section still operating under command of the military.
