Why got to LA? You got family there or something?
Everybody knows the best place for pork pokin's right here in the good ol' Sunshine State! We have more hogs of all size and genetic strains than any state in the union.
Hell, if ya'll want to poke holes in Porky, give me a call and I might can help set something up very reasonable in the future.
I'm not about to try to talk you out of a Lowsyanna hunt. Just food for thought for on down the road. There's public land down here with tons of piggy's running around that won't cost anything but travel expenses and a hunting license.

Why go to Florida for that matter. Tn. has plenty of pigs as well. I got my monster 500+ pounder thats now on the wall from here.

Man, that sounds sooo cool! But gas prices and family obligations are gonna keep me in Missouri all season. My bro-in-law is supposed to be takin' me to Texas in March for an archery-only hawg hunt. That'll be a great lead in for turkey season! There will be others, and we'll be able to pool our resources all the way from home, down and back.
Speaking of turkeys, n2, do you ever get after those birds down there? Someday, I want to go to Florida to get an Osceola.

Warrants from tn. are like bug bites here. Annoying but everybody has had them thats lived here. Tn. the only place that I've graced the inside of a jail cell. Though I came close in Indiana. Called a judge a pimp and when threatened with contempt told him thats all I had for him and jail wasn't going to improve that opinion. Even put it in writing and had it put in the record so he wouldn't forget.

Osceola's? So that's what those pesky things are!
Bloodlust, I don't just hunt them, I practically, live, eat, and breathe wild turkeys. Turkey hunting is my number one passion of all!
I have several places to hunt them and have been pretty lucky. I don't want to come off as a know-it-all or anything because luck has played an important role, but I seldom strike out. My favorite hunt was with my dad when he got his first gobbler. I'd gotten hooked on the sport a few years before he did and I used to have to drag him into the spring woods, but I finally did get him to go and on the first hunt, I called in six jakes that practically ran into our laps gobbling like crazy. He spooked them trying to get the gun up, but was hooked from that moment on.
A few weeks later, we setup in the same area and i called in a pair of two-year olds with decent beards and nubbin' spurs. He dropped the first one and the second bird just stood there confused, so he passed over the Wincheter and I settled his confusion nicely. Great hunt!
In the spring, Blood, give me a yell. I can point you in the right direction for a great hunt without paying the ranchers their rediculous prices. There's a ton of public land here in Fl. that's l crawling with the jokers that nearly every out of state hunter will never see.
Mars killed a 500 pounder in TN? Was it black and white with little round horns and an udder? I've only ever seen two or three wild hogs that woukld go that weight and I don't want anything to do with them. Too much work to get them to the truck, cleaning them is an astronomical chore, and the meats much better on a ninety pounder. However, congratulations on your trophy!!

That would be great Freddie! ;D I'd love to do some hunting in Tennessee and plan to make it down to Whitetailhunters camp hopefully next year. Do a little fishing for some crappie in Kentucky lake right next door to his place. Maybe even visit my kids; if I can stand it. A five hundred pound hog is a monster. Biggest I have personally played with is 400 pounds and that was plenty big enough! A Florida hog hunt might be a good idea as well there N2. That would make a great gathering spot for a group.

Actualy he was around 530 but it really didn't matter. No he wasn't black and white but mostly all black with brown guard hairs. Took 3 shots with my 3006 to kill it. No shot was beyond 40 yards and I recovered all 3 bullets in the armour plate. 3- 180 grain 3006 hits at or less then 40 yards and no exit wounds.
I cut out the tenderloins and had the rest made into sausage. Made the best chili I ever had.
But no, he wasn't a "Tennessee" hog but a pure russian wild boar that I paid $2300. to have imported in from russia through canada( as the U.S. won't allow direct import) and released at the Cumberland Mountain Hunting Lodge over in Crossville. I didn't want one of those weak domestic pigs gone wild things but the meanest, toughest hog I could get. He killed two of those "domestic" boars during the time he was running around loose.

Mars I am very happy for you to kill such a monster hog, 530 lb is a real trophy by any standards. Hogs, especially big boars, can be some of the toughest critters to get on the ground and make them stay there. Some years back I killed a big boar with my bow, the first arrow went in an bent the second arrow finally made it trough the lungs, the arrows where toped with nothing but the best broadheads, the Magnus I cut to the tip steel. Oh how I like to hunt this pigs, for me it is the best off season fun to keep tuned all year round. Unfortunatly this year I am bound here in Canada with work. But if all goes well next year will be a travelling hunting year, to further my sideline of writing and hunting strategie seminars. So invitations are welcome. ;D ;D

I get to go on 2 out-of-state hunting trips at the moment and one of them might be a hog hunt. See, me and wife have a deal. I get a 10 pt. buck or larger I get to go out of state. If it score 150 or bigger SHE has to pay to get it mounted. We made this deal before I ever killed a legal buck, and now I have a 11 pt and a 10 pt. so I get 2 trips. ;D

Freddie, Matt lives just about between us in Fouke, Ark. He's right on the Sulfer River and WMA has hogs on there and in his deer lease too. We could probably shame him into taking us out there too. You know New Orleans is still about 4 or 5 hours down the road yet from meand Vicksburgh is only 3 hours east of me. We do have the casino's here too. But if you really want to give away money, you can just send it to me. I'll try and find something to do with it.... ;D Went out hog hunting yesterday afternoon with Mandy's boyfriend. We got into the edges of where the hogs were but since Buddy didn't want to get his feet wet we just skirted around the area and didn't see any hogs. We did see a small flock of turkeys though. About 7 or 8 of them. Too bad we don't have a fall season here yet. With the change in the weather down here I think the hogs have settled in because of the cold. They'll get moving again in a day or 2.

Brian, I know where Fouke is and you're right. Its close to being 1/2 way. I hunt deer on Lake Greeson WMA but have never hunted hogs. I think that would be a good idea to shame Matt. then I could save one of my out of state trips to go elsewhere ;D

N2, you're on! Three fourths of my allotted vacation time is already planned out for '06, so I'm gonna start planning an '07 Florida turkey hunt. I can probably set up a good long trip, and maybe see about going after a hawg as well. Of course, that depends on how quickly I can get my turkey!

To be honest, I was supposed to go upto Matts last night and hunt this morning. But I was just too tired to go after the long walk yesterday. Never have to shame Matt into anything like that all it takes is some sort of hint from me. He's a good Boy. N2, you can be sure I'll give you a hollar when I go down to see my momma. She lives near Tampa and we go right down 19 to get to her place. My son, Chris is stationed at Hurlbert Feild near Pensacola.

Brian, when would be a good time to go? Would it be best to wait till after deer season, say in January or Feburary or maybe later?

To be honest Freddie, anytime at all is good for me. Right now I work during the week but most weekends are good. On the WMA there needs to be at least squirrel and/or rabbit open because you need to use only the weapon and bullet legal for the open season at that time. So during squirrel and rabbit season you can use a 22 cal or larger RIM FIRE or shotgun with BBshot or smaller. During deer season you can use a bow, heavy rifle or muzzle loader. The difficult thing is convincing a game warden that your not hunting deer if your carrying a 30-06 since hogs atre small game here or nuisance critters. So like I said, anytime works for me.
