I just had this li'l talk the other day with my 13 year old and he was telling me about all the flack he was catching with me being a proud member of our armed forces and away so much: Most of his friends say he is a Sexist for not liking Billery C and a racist for not liking Oboma? I told him to tell his friends they need to beg their parents to vote for Oboma (not that it looks like he will win) and then set back and watch the time line I have given him to tell them: 2009 Oboma takes office and starts pulling our troops out of Iraq, This will go very smoothly do to the fact that is what they are looking for; my son, his friends are 14 and is in 8th grade. 2010 all the troops are gone and Alquaeda in Iraq have started killing anyone who they do not like and/or helped us in this war, they are taking over Iraq; my son, his friends are 15 and in 9th grade. 2011 Alquaeda has a firm grip on Iraq and killed or made leave anyone not thinking the way they do, they are getting ready for us to invade them again and looking forward to it. My son, his friends are 16 and in 10th grade and still no draft in the US. 2012 Oboma is looking at running for reelection, things are starting to happen here in the good old us, nothing big to get Oboma to send troops back to Iraq yet but it is in the wend. My son, his friends are 17 and 11th grade. 2013 Oboma is still in the White house and things are getting really nasty here at home. Ali (Alquaeda In Iraq) have stepped up their attacks here in the US and Oboma announces a deployment of troops back to the Mid East, Ali is getting things ready for a warm welcome with an IED or EFP setting about every 10 ft that our troops will travel to get back to Baghdad. My son and his friends are 18 and in 12 grade. Still no US draft. With his second term secured, he sends troops back into Iraq to stop the bombing and such here in the US but all are friends that we have fighting with us in Iraq now, are dead (with their families) or in exile. No one is there to meet us with open arms, everyone left hates us or will not help because of us cutting and running a second time on them. The fighting is very intense and the D-day invasion is bumped down on the list of days that US has shed the most blood. Fighting like this goes on for weeks, hundreds are killed daily. Oboma has no option but to bring back the draft to fill the depleted ranks. So my son and his class mates can be the very first ones to get a draft card in the mail sense Vietnam. So go on and vote for Oboma and when your son, girl or friends kids are sent off to fight a war we have all ready won, you can thump yourself on the back (we all know Libs are limber, the way they bend over to kiss everyones else's a$$) and be proud of the fact that you voted for sending your kids to war with your vote...
Sorry but this has been haunting me for some time and thought it would be good to get out here. By the Way, I would not be getting ready to go back if I thought it was a lost war. God Bless our troops and do not forget the family that they leave, it is them that the troops look at to get the strength to drive on...
OK I am off my soap box... I do wish to thank you all that sent prayers for me when I was in the litter box, I do know they work...

OR;... Dateline September 2008 US Special Forces today confirm that Al Quaeda leadership has been virtually destroyed including Osama Bin Laden during a massive attack along the Pakistani/Iraq border led by units of the US Army 10th Special Forces Group in conjunction with the newly formed "Black Watch" USAF wing composed of AC-130 gunships, B-2 Stealth Bombers, F-22 Attack Fighters, and the A-10 "Warthog" tank killer. Planning for the attack began in mid 2007 when groundwork was laid to survey the geographic area thought to provide shelter for Al Quaeda members when it was discovered that the annual buildup of winter supplies resulted in "highly visible" and traceable movements along mountain roadways. This intelligence along with radio traffic was gathered and provided to the involved units who were trained in mountain warfare, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) surveillance/intelligence analysis, broadband radio tracking, and terrain satellite photo analysis. These coordinated units were then organized and trained together at USAF Installation, US Navy, and US Army facilities in several states resulting in a coordinated attack plan. The attack began with the infiltration of AlQuaeda supply lines in late 2007 with infiltrators plotting map coordinate locations of enemy assets. D-Day, elements of the 10th Special Forces Group opened all known entry ways to underground tunnels and bunkers simultaneously as A-10 aircraft attacked an enemy supply column attempting a delivery in the dark of night. B-2 bombers pin-pointed bombing runs to distract enemy forces attention away from the ground forces launching their assault on the bunkers. F-22 aircraft and UAVs monitored the ground attack providing top cover and aerial intelligence. One of the F-22 pilots was reported to have said that he could actually see the troops in the bunkers and direct them toward enemy assets using still highly classified technology. He went on to say that one of their greatest concerns was the possibility of interference by Iran aircraft or missiles and that they were prepared for that possibility. Initial casualty reports place enemy losses at 1,600 dead and 4,000 captured with US losses at 6 KIA and 72 wounded. President Bush was characterized as "elated" at the success of the mission and believes that as a result, the election of Senator McCain in November is a certainty.

Frank, You had me going with that header for a minute,"A Vote For Oboma".Hell the man won't even salute or show respect to the American Flag and makes no apology's for it. Of course no war is a popular thing. But look at the reaction of the American people when Pearl Harbor occurred.Damn, everyone ran to sign up to fight the evil axis and fight them we did until we won.And all of America supported the effort and was proud. Then came Korea.Had we pressed on and not conceded, North Korea would not be a nuclear threat. Then came Viet Nam.Having spent my time there I will just say it was the greatest of all FUBAR wars. Now we have a North Viet Nam and a South Viet Nam.Sound familiar! I guess my point is what the hell is the difference between Pearl Harbor and 9/11? My guess the military fought the wars that we won,and the politicians and conservatism lost the wars we lost.IMO Frank, Thanks for your service, and stay safe and trust no one but the brothers you serve with. snake-eyes

Russia is sending fighters to Venezuela, North Korea is selling nukes to Iran, Pakistan is providing supplies to AlQuaeda and delivering them with their military, and the topic of the hour in the news is Obama versus McCain.

Prolly was...WTF was their guy doing here...his nails? Why can't we just snipe that big mouth mofo out of office? One man, one bullet, peace in South America!

If you been watching what has been happening along the Pakastani Afghan border you would know that Venezuela can expect a massive earthquake along a fault line nobody knew about and then a sudden tidal wave just by chance swallowing up the Presidential palace! (Life's a bitch!)

The only difference between Obama and Osama is a little B/S! Also... A taxpayer voting for Obama is like a pig casting his vote for Jimmy Dean! You may quote me on these... -Rogue-

Way to go kid. But you know Frank, sometimes I wish I hadn't mentioned the Guard to you. I mean it's damned Vietnam all over again trying to fight a war with a politician strapped to your neck and an unappreciative, could give a shit less population of cowards, bigots, liberals, and egotists. I wonder if Ike was anywhere near big enough! Rogie, I wasn't aware that Jimmy Dean used pork in his sausage!

Hi Folks! I get the feeling that most, if not all of you, are strongly in favor of McCain and Palin leading this country. As you may know, I don't think either of them are going to do a darn bit of good and I think it's idiotic if we go at each other's throats over the whole circus. But hey that just me. On the other hand, I got a kick out of an article that came into my email box today about the largest rally in Alaskan History. It also included a lot of great photos. (Oh on a side note, have you guys seen the photo of Palin in a bikini with the pretend automatic rifle? I bet you'd love it. Too bad it was photoshop trickery) So just for your FYI here are a couple of quotes: The rally was organized by a small group of women, talking over coffee. It made me wonder what other things have started with small groups of women talking over coffee. hahahahah....you'd better keep a close rein on those women of yours...no tellin' what they might be up to One of those media outlets was KBYR radio, home of Eddie Burke, a long-time uber-conservative Anchorage talk show host. Turns out that Eddie Burke not only announced the rally, but called the people who planned to attend the rally "a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots," He must be a really understanding, kind and intelligent sort of guy. The Alaska Women Reject Palin rally was significantly bigger than Palin's rally that got all the national media coverage! So take heart, sit back, and enjoy the photo gallery. Feel free to spread the pictures around to anyone who needs to know that Sarah Palin most definitely does not speak for all Alaskans. The citizens of Alaska, who know her best, have things to say.I'm personally looking forward to reading more about what they have to say...me thinks, all is not usually what we are lead to believe.

You're right stating that either of them will not do a darn bit of good. However I believe McCain/Palin will do less bad. They run for a party whose ideals are a bit closer to my own.
Yes, I do want off-shore oil drilling/exploration.
No, I do not believe in homosexual marriages.
No, I do not agree with abortion rights.
No, I do not approve of negotiating with terrorist backed countries (Iran).
Yes, I do believe that every American has the right to keep and bear arms.
Yes, I do believe in the job our military is doing in the middle east.
No, I do not feel comfortable electing a Commander In Chief with only 143 days worth of experience in national politics.
No, I haven't seen the photoshopped bikini pictures of Palin...want to!
Yes, I do think the Commander In Chief of the U. S. Military should have military service in his background.
No, after reading excerpts from Michelle Obama's college thesis on racism in America, I DO NOT want that racist bitch to be our nation's first lady.
No, I don't think that during a world-wide conflict with Islam, we should elect an Arabic (50%white, 46%Arabic, & 4%black African) muslum sympathizer, who's pastor of twenty years has made a preaching career out of racism and distrust of the American government and openly praises the preaching of Nation Of Islam leader Louis Farakhan.
Yes, I do believe that we should have fewer welfare programs and more jobs!
Yes, I do think that wire-tapping, in cases of national security, should not be made illegal.
Yes, I do support the American Farmer and wish to continue the farm subsidy programs in place.
Yes, I do agree to limited logging in National park as a means of wildfire prevention.
And
No, I do not agree to imposing further taxes on "Big Oil" to fund government programs to research altrernative fuels. (They'll only pass the expense on to the consumer)
Whether either party will do a good job is beyond me. It's just that I think McCain/Palin will do less harm!

I agree with everthing Toby said except a couple of minor points. lI don't want any Obamas or anything like him in the white house, out house, and maybe not even in the guard house. It is not a matter of black, brown, white, yellow, or red. It is a matter of the two shades of green; ergo, light green being jealousy and dark green being greed and the love of money. These damned politicians will do anything or say anything for the power and privelege of the office. The problems we have with our society and our economy can pretty much be summed up to that causal factor as well. McCain isn't the brightest bulb in the chandalier but I think he is really wanting to try to help his country. His ruinning mate is just as well qualified as Obama is and I think less caustic and/or dangerous. Biden has a track record of being a liberal baffoon cow towing to big money and special interest groups. He and Obama are a good pair; of what, I am not sure. I still think Clinton will kill him before November!

Toby, Thanks for the reminders,of why I have and always will be a conservative. The real issue is voting on ideals not people. The GOP continues to support the ideals I believe in,and until they don't,I will continue to vote Republican. Not as the lesser of two evils, but the best of two completely different set of ideals. To that end McCain/Palin is the only choice.IMHO snake-eyes

Hi Folks! I really appreciate Toby's elucidation of his personal views, and the follow-up comments. The list inspired me to write another book in response to every point. Not disagreement per say, just a reflective exploration and elaboration into the various topical areas. No, I'm not going to bore you, wear out your eyes or potentially push any buttons quite yet; but it was a fun diversion from my work and helped me reflect on where I stand on the various topics I've heard that the difference between the two ideologies can be explained via two generalized approaches: 1. a simplified, black and white approach to issues 2. an approach that embraces the multi-hued complexity of any given topic. One almost seems to imply an approach that favors immediate knee-jerk reactions with no thought to the subtler aspects or potential unintended consequences. Whereas the other sort of implies endless talking and deliberation without any productive action. To me, both approaches have value and are an inherent part of our human experience...like yin/yang. If we let one or the other approach be our only vehicle for perception and movement than we have limited the capabilities of our human brain. In my opinion, that is essentially what has happened and we have created a civilization that is totally out of balance and destined to fail. Anyways, it may not be too late and I feel one way to bring things back into balance is to listen to all sides of any given story, find common ground and lay out a strategy to manifest what we all want to create for ourselves, our families and future generations. But such endeavors can be very challenging as active listening is a very tough skill to learn and it's easy for some people get defensive and very hot and bothered over certain things. If there isn't a framework of sorts a battle can easily emerge and then the whole process falls apart and becomes very unpleasant. Such an endeavor is almost like a challenging adventure, an extreme sport. So not only do I enjoy trying to partake in conversations with folks who have very diverse perspectives, I also like to experiment with various conversational literacy tools. One of these tools or models is called a Conversation Cafe. <http://www.conversationcafe.org/> Constantine and I hosted a Conversation Cafe at the end of March where about 30 folks came to enjoy great Athens' Own food and have a conversation around the question How do humans need to adapt to the changes predicted for this century?. The crowd wasn't as diverse as I would have liked but it was still a good experiment. We broke into circles of 8-10 folks and everyone, from what I heard, really got a lot out of it. We also had a director for government relations give a presentation on how climate change may affect us in this area. Some great questions and challenges emerged from her presentation as well. (It was also fun because we experimented with the incident command system to plan, organize collaborative partners and pull off the event. It worked splendidly!) I hope to host another one next March around a similar question and have some "expert" speak about how the peak oil situation might affect us here and what we can do about it on a local level. Anyways, there are ground rules and a structure to the process. One aspect is that everyone who participates in a Conversation Cafe agrees to the following: - open mindedness: listen to and respect all points of view. - acceptance: suspend judgment as best you can. - curiosity: seek to understand rather than persuade. - discovery: question assumptions, look for new insights. - sincerity: speak what has personal heart and meaning - brevity: go for honesty and depth but don't go on and on. I have the most trouble with the last one BTW, I googled "palin with gun bikini" and a lot of web pages turned up, here is just one of them: guanabee.com/2008/09/sarah-palin-bikini-and-rifle-p.phpI've got a deer snorting in the woods...must be a signal to get back to work. Hope you are all having a great day. kj
