My youngest son left for an Order of the Arrow campout last night. He was recently picked for that honor. My oldest son is in Lexington this morning for a Foreign Language Festival state competition. They won their region last month. And I will be off to help cook at our annual Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast. This year we are giving one dollar from each ticket to a Veteran's Center in Wilmore, KY.
On another note,I am looking to buy a digital camcorder with a built-in hard drive and a high optical zoom. I want to keep it under $350 if possible. I like the Panasonic SDR-H80 but it is $399 plus tax. Any ideas?

Carter, Did just a little research for ya. Seems there are four different models of that particular camcorder. H80S,H80A.H80K and H80R all of which run at $399 and that is a suggested retail price from Panasonic. You might try some of the large photographic warehouses. You can find them in about Photo Magazine. Find one away from your home state and you can save at least the sales tax snake-eyes

Snake, the camcorder came out of NY or NJ. I found another site advertising the same one for even less but they were not very service oriented nor could I get through.

My son's Eagle Ceremony went well. I wish there had been a few more Scouts and other people there. He and the other boy enjoyed their moment. I think my son liked the picture I of an eagle and the Eagle Scout medal I drew for him. I presented it to him framed and it had a red matte with black edging. If I can get a good photo of it I will forward to TOby so he can post it here for me.

Every time I take a camera I get blanked. I never pack one anymore! My buddies have taken photos of me and my harvest, and sometimes you can even see a man and an animal. It's like voodoo! snake-eyes

I know what you mean about the camera jinx. I have thought the same thing sometimes. But I also have found it to be just the opposite. Besides, this thing is like a spotting scope. I can zoom in on critters that I won't even have a chance at shooting if they stay far away.

Carter, I will stick with the Voodoo thing! I have what would today be an antique. A 35mm,Cannon Rebel with the top lens being 300mm. Very nice picture taking machine until you point it to a deer!!!!! Then Voodoo! Deer are vampires...They don't show up in my pictures. Must be the mirrors . snake-eyes ;D

My youngest one has his 8th grade graduation party tonight. His last day of school is Monday. Then on Wednesday he and I leave for Lake Erie with a couple of other guys that fish up there with me every year. I hope the walleye are biting better than last year. When you only get one day you have to hope for good weather and good fishing.

I know myself it was milestone in a young mans life of which there will be many. From what I have been hearing the walleye fishing is great, when the weather allows. My son-in-law and grandson did very well, but lucked out on the weather. I have 3# of fillets in the freezer. They probably have 10# that I will probably end up with me The family don't eat fish . I know what you are thinking,I should be looking for some veggie eating milkman, mailman. My grandkids eat meat like crazy, but for some reason just do not like fish I think it is because they have never had it prepared properly. My fault most likely. From what I was told they fished somewhere in or around Marblehead. snake-eyes Good Luck! BTW How is that camera working out for you?

We fish out of Port Clinton. I love eating walleye. I think it is one of the better fresh water fish we have.
The camera is working out great so far. Of course I probably never will use half the gadgetry on it.

The 8th grade graduation ceremony went well. One kid out of the 30 in his grade did not show up. I was on duty but was able to make it.

Back from Lake Erie. We caught 20+ walleyes, a yellow perch and a white perch. Our fish weighed a total of 60 pounds. I caught the biggest one at 4 pounds. I only caught two. My youngest sone caught three. The weather was okay. A little more wind than we would have liked and it was cooler than the last time but at least the walleye were biting.
