Well, it was a bass tournament. Sometimes when you go back into a creek there would be debris blocking your way to a virtually untouched spot. Some guys will bring a shovel with them for the same reason, they dig a channel deep enough to get the boat through a silted in spot. I remember being with a guy that we had close to half the side of his boat on the bank, powering and pushing and pulling our way into a creek. I caught two small bass back in there and he blanked.

I guess they have some pretty relaxed laws in some states. The ones I'ved lived in you would be fined for digging a channel and have to pay the cost of restoring the lake/creek bottom. Same with cutting trees/limbs that fall into the water.

We went out in the boat today for a few hours and had a great time. I fuigured out that I had forgotten one thing. I should have gotten Matt a new fishing rod. He set the hook on a Crappie about 8 inches long and flat snapped his rod off. Thankfully, I had a spare with me. We found the fish in about 18 to 20+ feet of water. Caught a few nice crappie and a couple decent catfish. The motor ran great, started on the first pull and ran like a scalded dog. Good afternoon fishing considering that this morning Miss Kathy found an un used paint brush and remembered I had told her I would repaint the kitchen when I had time. Apparently I had time this morning. Looks good though, Kathy likes it.... ;D

I guess its pretty relaxed here Mars, this is KY afterall. Brian, did anyone mention toilet paper yet? What about aspirin, allergy medicine(for when you are fishing during an algae bloom), spare glasses(for seeing and/or sun)?

Those are all great ideas Carter. I have a roll of TP that I keep in a ziplock bag and then in a plastic flogers can. Stays nice and dry. Now glasses are certainly important. I have mine on lanyards and ALWAYS take both my clear and sunglasses. (Can't see to tie a hook on without them) My major glasses problem is to remember I have the dark glasses on when it starts getting dark out. Heck I drove about 2 miles yesterday evening, wondering why the headlights seemed dim, before I realized I had my sunglasses still on. ;D As far as the asprin or allergy medicine, we take those kinda things with us when the season is right for them. Also, instead of asprin, I will chew on a willow twig. It's an old time cure for headaches and body aches like asprin. Dr says that's better for me than the asprin since I'm not supposed to take anymore asprin than my daily morning dose. It works as well as or better than asprin too. Chew it for about 10 minutes and you'll feel better, GARRONTEEEED!!!
