Actually, I still feel like dog poopy but I'll survive.
I looked up the seasons for 2006 and the gun season for deer opens November 11 and runs through November 19. The bear season opens November 6 and runs through November 30.
Unfortunatley, the turkey season doesn't coincide with these two. It opens October 23 and goes through October 29th.
The license fee's are $100 for a three day license and $125 for a five day license. Either license would entitle you to a deer and a bear. I haven't seen a lot of bear sign at my place but have seen a little. And, last year I actually saw a bear. If this is something that would interest everyone I could set up a bait site.
Just let me know if you all would like to do something here in Arkansas and I'll do the best I can to accomodate you.

Well that dosn't look bad here.
We have now an offer to hunt from Rich. Man I am glad to hear you feel better.
I looked at the website link Toby provided and it actually sounds quit good. 5 day huntns including lodging for around 500 dollars. This is a price which cheap considering what the going rate is today.
I am sure we could push that price further down if we book as a group.
The outfitter offers bear hunts over bait with bor or rifle. Deer hunts with rifle or bow or a combination hunt deer/yote.
That's a beginning.
We still should know soon how many of the OCC members would like to take part.
It's spring season now but before we have turned around twice it will be deer season again. So the sooner we get everything sorted and booked the better.

Yes sir Rich that sounds like a woncerful time. What did you do with your eye buddy; cataracts? I'm glad you are back among the subsisting old man. We miss you around here. Hey guys, got this ebay auction sent by a member there named sharon benoit, guess somebody here knows who that is! ;D Anyway this is a "varmint" hunt in Texas that looks pretty reasonable. I think it is close to San Antonio, you know Alamo, River Walk, Hooters! so take a look: cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7230657495&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:US:1by the way Rich, what does dog poopy feel like?

Well, actually I just had some cosmetic surgery done to shorten my very baggy eyelids. Momma's idea. She always comes up with something for me to do that isn't necessarily fun. Dog poopy kind of feels like $hit. Not just regular $hit but the kind that oozes out and smells really bad. Sort of like road kill I imagine - you know - that decaying, rotten, maggot filled, stinky, putrid, yucky feeling. Yep, that's me. Here is a pic to prove it. Should have had this done at halloween. Now, if that ain't scary I don't know what is. Hey, I'm serious about setting up something here in Arkansas if you guys want to try it. Although a bear hunt in Maine, that is guided and, at that price is pretty hard to beat. It's your call. My feelings won't be hurt if you decide to do something else besides come here. There is always next year and by then maybe old CCC will be just a little better. It seems to get better every day. Rich

Well, if ET survives the trip and/or doesn't get lost he'll be here this weekend. Might have to see if I can scare up a turkey for him and/or a couple of trout.

Jesus Rich, I ain't so sure that I ain't in the twilight zone here. Anybody happen to notice that Rich could be my long lost twin brother? Now that's spooky! Another thing that might be surprising. If CG ever gets ahold of my check book I'm in trouble. Her handwriting looks more like mine than mine does! Seriously, if put to the test I could not readily distinguish between hers and mine.

Ya know, I picked up on that quite some time ago but didn't say anything. Yes, without the black eyes we do resemble each other a little. I think it's the beard. There is a guy in town here that is in the same business as me, has the same initials as mine, has a white beard like mine and we get mistaken for each other all the time.
I really think it's the beard though.

Tell you what I'll do. Somewhere I have a picture of Dad clean shaven. You take a peek at that and tell me it's the beard. ;D Tell you what I had to look twice!

Here you go Rich. This is my Dad in the late 70s which would have placed him at somewhere around fiftyish. Without my beard I'm a dead ringer for him.

Well, it could be. I actually resemble my mom more than my dad and I really look different without my beard.
I'll tell you a funny beard story.
My ex-wife did not like my beard and one evening after the kids had all gone to bed she told me she was tired of sleeping with a hair brush and wished I would shave the dumb thing off. So, to appease her I went in and shaved.
The next morning we were laying in bed and my youngest son came upstairs and climbed over me to get between me and his mom. When he got on top of me he looked down at me and had this very quizical look on his face.
Later that morning we were at the breakfast table and he finally said, "Dad, did you get a hair-cut?" I told him no, that I had just shaved my beard. He said, "Thank goodness, I thought mom had some strange guy in bed with her this morning."
Hey, who knows - maybe we are related. My mom's maiden name was Cox and her mom's maiden name was Yount. They were all from Missouri, Illinois and Tennessee. My dad and his folks were from the boot hill of MIssouri. He died in 1969 at the ripe old age of 52. I'll see if I can find a picture of him around here somewhere.

Rich, Paw and his father really look like brothers.
You know Rich I am hurting just looking at that picture, if I coudn't see the stitches I would say you had a fight in a bar. ;D You could pay me a lot of money and I would still not do what you did, I am a chicken when it comes to doctors. I hate them, to be honest.
I agree with Rich, that hunt in Main looks very good and the price is hard to beat. You know I am really interested in that OCC hunt and hope we can work something out here.
If everything falls in place like I plan then I am hopeful to make a hunting tour in America in the coming fall to check out a few places. Who knows I may end up visiting Rich too, if possible.

Othmar,
You are more than welcome here anytime. Just give me a couple days notice so I can get things planned.
I too am chicken when it comes to doctors and being cut on but I am more afraid of Miss Linda. I'd probably have looked that way anyway after her and her frying pan got through with me.

Don't forget about Mark Luce's hunts in Maine as well. I had a half of an idea that maybe you folk might be interested in. I'll see if I can explain it so you unde4rstand my thinking. you all know about the elk hunt in Idaho this October right. Well I plan to go but not hunt. I want to visit, meet some new members and just vacation and have some fun. I'm not going to spend $600.00 on the chance I might get an elk. If I want elk meat I can go north a hundred miles and get one guaranteed for a thousand dollars or about three bucks a pound after it is packaged. I feel pretty much the same about anything we might be able to do as a group. I frankly don't care whether I hunt or not. If it is cheap enough, fine; if not; no biggie. Got me to thinking that there might be other "tight wads" among us or folk who just do not have the where with all to be able to afford much for an outing. What if... We gathered as a group and if that gathering included an expensive hunt that we pooled the cost of the hunt and either sent in one of us or maybe drew lots or something to see who hunts and just scored one kill. Or you know set up the best odds for a kill. We could split up any meat and either draw lots for any trophy or decide trophies go to the hunter or whatever. Just the loose shape of half an idea here. It could mean that a thousand dollar hunt might cost each member a couple hundred dollars or less and provide a guaranteed share in the fun and better potential for a share in the meat. Mull it over. ;D

Phil,
Now, I know we aren't related. You are much smarter and more devious than I could ever be. That thought about suing Miss Linda never crossed my mind but it's a good one.
The first pic I saw of you was on the NAHC board at the elk GT. You were sprawled out in a lawn chair or something and when I saw the photo I called Linda over to look. Cause, it sure looked like me laying there.
I looked for a pic of my dad but could't find one of him in his later years. There is definitely a resemblance though between him and your dad.

Looks good Mars, but I'm out. I'm way to fat to go chasing a pack of hounds up and down them mountains.
But that I could, I would in a heartbeat. As far as a GT goes, TN would be a better choice geographically, I guess, but that type of hunting is a bit prohibitive to me.
