Here's something I thought some of you might find interesting...the Oath of Knighthood and A Medieval Prayer...both still very impressive several hundred years later. The stipulations of the oath differ little from the moral values I was raised with...
Oath of Knighthood
Be loyal of hand and of mouth, seeking to serve every man as best ye may. Seek ye the fellowship of good men, hearken unto their words and remember them.
Be humble and courteous wherever thou goest, not talking much, neither being dumb altogether.
Allow no women or child to suffer by thy default, so that if ye may lift thy hand to assist one, do so. If thou must draw thy sword to defend them, do so unto thy own death.
If thou come into fellowship with boys or men who speak in a disrespectful manner of any women or maiden, let them know in gracious words that this displeases thou and thy Lord, then depart their company forthwith.
Thou art to defend and protect those who seek to worship in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and promote faith in Him throughout this earth He has made.
These words come down to us from an ancient knightly order in which knights were instructed in their duties.
The Prayer for a Knightâs Sword This is an ancient Medieval Prayer "Hearken we beseech Thee, O Lord, to our prayers, and deign to bless with the right hand of Thy Majesty this sword with which Thy servant desires to be girded, that it may be a defense of churches, widows, orphans and all Thy servants against the scourge of heathens, that it may be the terror and dread of all evil-doers, and that it may be just in both attack and defense."

Funny, but all through my ancestral heritage the Knights Templar and Masonic seems to be tightly woven into the fibers of family history.
Though not affiliated with the Masons, I took the Oath of Knighthood (however corny that may sound in today's world) and "was knighted" by the medieval society I belong to.
Guess it's a good thing we don't live back in those times though. Given my size...and then imagining "that" in armor, I'd have to have a rather large Clydesdale for a steed, wouldn't you say?

Au contraire mon ami! That's why the knights had vassals, knaves, squires, and such to lift the Lord's lard!

I've done a bit of traveling myself! With a few modifications, it is of the Knights Templar. I'm from a masonic family that goes back several generations. Interestingly, the Masonic Lodges of the new world (17th century North America) were denied charter from the Grand Lodge of England and were instead chartered by the Grand Lodge of Scottland. Masonic history is absolutely fascinating to me, especially as they were such an important part of the foundation of our country.

Yes indeed, N2...I need to brush up on all that stuff....but I think there is something interwoven into my family history about the Scottish Rite. Most of my ancestry is from Scotland...the English side having been disinherited. Whoever heard of an English blue-blood marrying with a common gutter Scot? The Masons, The Scottish Rite, the Knights Templar...all the remains of ancient knightly orders. Many were accomplished engineers and experts in the building of great edifices, churches, and castles. Quite fascinating, I agree. Eerie that their main adversaries were radical Muslims bent on conquering the entire world as they knew it in medieval times. That was the engine that fired The Crusades. Kind of sounds as if history repeats itself. Had the Crusaders not gone on the defensive, the Muslims might have succeeded. Spain had mostly fallen to Moorish (Muslim) rule...and Spain is only a short jump across a narrow strait from our ancestral British Isles. By diverting the attention of the Muslims to defense of their strongholds in the Holy Land, their advancement was halted. I'm sure you noticed the reference in the medieval prayer to "Thy servants against the scourge of the heathens." That would have been in reference to the Muslims...they considered the Crusaders to be infidels...and the Crusaders considered the Muslims to be heathen. Over the years, we have softened and rationalize the existence of the Muslims and their right to their religion...however...to them we are still infidels needing a killing. We changed over the years...but they are still the same as they were centuries ago. And all because Father Abraham couldn't keep his britches zipped! Darn...I just realized that I'm starting to sound like Cliff on Cheers! ;D

Rogue,
If you haven't read the website I posted under another thread in this forum I would encourge you to do so. It is along the same lines as you are talking about with regard to the Islamic people and their desire to take over the world. One of the things that I have learned is that the anti-christ spoken of in Revelation and elsewhere will be Islamic, not European as some seem to think.

I was entered, passed, and raised at Groveport 240 in Groveport Ohio. Somehow or the other amongst moving, travelling, changing jobs, etc I let my membership lapse and never went any further than 3rd degree. I kind of miss it; but, not enough to go through all that again!

I was Raised in July of 1992 by my Father, in the same lodge he and my Grandfather were raised in. I too moved away and let my lodge membership lapse, but I'm no less of a Mason for it, I just can't get involved in the ritual work or lodge politics until I'm paid up.
I enjoyed the ritual and even taught for a while. There's a local lodge not far from me now and I've promised myself to visit, I just haven't done it yet.
Anybody see the movie, "National Treasure"? It was way off base on some things, but still wove an interesting tale.

Arrrrghhhhhhhhhh! I had a well-thought response typed up about it making sense that the anti-Christ would come out of the same general region as Christ did. Then I went on to mention the facts of the sad demise of the original Knights Templar during The Inquisition. I decided to try the spell check feature on the site here...and when I hit the spell check, my computer did it's imitation of a popsicle and froze up. I lost the whole dad-blasted thing! I'm so PO'ed that I may as well just try it another time. I swear I'm going to start composing everything on Wordpad, then copy and paste to the forum to avoid that happening again! AAArrrghhhhhhhhhh!

LOL! I know the feeling Bill. Right now my monitor is trying to go tits up. The little screen thingie that you use to adjust color, size, shape, etc. keeps popping up and spinning through the cycles. I can't get it to stay off. Been doing it for three or four days. Right now I have match sticks jammed into the control button to hold it depressed into "off" contact. Seems to be working somewhat or at least occasionally. SOB is driving me nuts! On top of that, the main web site needs updated, badly, and the edit routines are not working. Been waiting on the host to figure out what the problem is. I could write them in FTP or AFTP but if I do then the edit routines will not work on the forever!

Bill,
I believe the Anti-christ will be from the general area of Syria. I think it's in Daniel where he's called The Assyrian. That is the area of Syria today. Also, he has to be out of the old Roman Empire, and Syria was part of that. He also will fool alot of people into thinking he is GFod, and how could he do that if they knew the Bible? So I think he will lead the Muslims to start the Tribulational period.

Asyria is today Northern Iraq. This would be the Kurdish territory if I got my geography correct. Daniel speaks of the AntiChrist coming from North of Asyria. The good part is that you can identify the/an AntiChrist simply by demanding that he confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh and is the Son of God. If He is AntiChrist, he can't do it. ;D

Sadly, I could show you about a half dozen people who frequent Charlie Daniel's board who can't confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh and is the Son of God. Their sole purpose there is to discredit Christians and American patriots with their liberal diatribe. But they aren't smart enough to be the anti-Christ. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad to see mixed up people. Some of them have straddled the fence in that forum so much that I'll bet their rumps are sore! I quit posting to that board after the issue came up a couple of days ago about "Broke-butt Mountain." I don't believe in gay cowboys, let alone gay Christians, any more than I believe in the little UFO aliens that the left-wingers are trying to conjure up in my neck of the woods. You'd be surprised how many clowns came out of the woodwork, though I kept my comments civil and clean. Supposedly, I am "homophobic," "have insecurities about my masculinity," and "need to get in touch with my inner self." My response that "my inner self didn't like that kind of movie either" went over like a screen door on a submarine! Ever throw gasoline in a campfire? Whoooosh! ;D Charlie is a good man...an American patriot, and a God-fearing Christian...but I have his address and would rather contact him on limited occasions than put up with the radicals that seem to be magnetically attracted to his site.

Bill,
I agree with you. My Bible says that homosexuality is an abomination before God. But even if it wasn't I still would not like it. If you look at nature, how many times will you see 2 male animals breeding? I have hunted all my life and have yet to see a buck breed another buck. People say that it is a lifestlye, but I say it is a sin. Look what happened to Sodom and Gommorah. When the men came to Lot's house to "know" the angels it wasn't to just meet them. It was to "know" them in every sense of the word. Lot offered them his 2 virgin daughters and they even turned them down. To me that is sick and depraved and I choose not to be around it. It's my choice. I can do what God says in his Word, or I can accept it and answer to God at the final judgement. I choose to do what God says!

On target Pastor! I know far too many folk who after marriage and kids decided they were gay. I know as many former gays; one a Music Minister at an Assembly of God Church, who is now married with twins! Say, did you catch the Pastor?

Wow, Bill I don't know whether you intended to put your heart out there on your sleeve or not; but I'll tell you my man I can feel your passion and compassion in that post. Sometimes God puts a sting in our heart and a tear in our eye so that we can be of use to Him and then He puts us in the position or circumstance needed along with all the tools and skills we may never would have thought of possessing. Got a story I need to share: Circa 1986 Clarksville Tennessee just shortly after being informed that my presence in my abode was no longer desired, leaving, and going through a religious and spiritual conversion of massive proportions. I guess it was a year or longer following my personal salvation. I was a sparse man, barely 165 pounds and looked a bit funny I guess in my suits selected for my former 220 pound rotund self. Through events I had found myself performing the duties of Head Usher at my rather large church. One Sunday morning all was working nicely when I noticed and heard a commotion somewhere down front near the alter where I saw one of our Ushers, a burley middle aged fellow latched onto a large man who was swinging a cane. The Usher was trying to get him moved to the back of the church. As they were beginning to attract attention and cause a scene I looked around and located the rest of the 13 Ushers and motioned for them to stay in place. I quickly marched my mosquito butt frame down the aisle and met the two large men about half way. The "wayward Brother" raised his cane and I shot out my left hand accepting the blow into my open hand quickly twisting the cane and disarming him. In the most gentle voice I ever possessed said exactly; "Brother you don't need that in here." Then I lifted his right arm under his shoulder taking his weight off his feet and Bill and I escorted him out of the church. A couple weeks later this man was attending evening services and went forward for prayer. I knelt beside him and several others were praying with us. When we were through I reached out to help him to his feet. He was too heavy for me to lift! This man was around six foot four and better than 250 solid pounds. What was a piece of cake to do with God's strength I could not do on my own.

I probably poured too much feeling into that post...but it has been a real eye-opener realizing that there are some people out there that are truly screwed up. It would take an act of God to bring them around, because they wouldn't listen to anyone else. Small town boy like me had a hard time realizing that there are really people out there who are hard-core athiests, or hard-core deviants. Most of the ones I met around here that professed to be either one were somewhat wishy-washy and undecided. There are others out there, especially from the larger cities who are as rabid as the PETA folk and the radical Muslims. I still resent them making a movie about "little gay cowboys" and trying to destroy an American Icon. That is unforgivable! Even more unforgivable is that movie "Corpus Christi" where they tried to portray the Savior as a deviant as well. I'm just glad God is in charge instead of me. I don't have His benevolence or patience.

Gay cowboys? They try to claim all kinds of historical figures were raving queers too. Supposedly they're trying to convince folks that Abraham Lincon was a fag! I've heard that about a lot of important historical figures. One guy in a rag magazine my sister used to subscribe to, spoke openly about a secret gay affair involving John Wayne!!! I don't think so pilgrim! Can't stand them.
