No batteries, no light bulb, nothing to replace, NEVER!! Housed in a thick plastic case is a soft iron core wrapped with copper wire and centered in the tube of the flash light surrounded by a large powerful magnetized cylinder which travels back and forth over the core when shaking thus producing an electric current stored in a capacitor which slowly releases the charge into an LED when the capacitor is charged. Fully charged the light lasts for about ten minutes and has the illumination of about a 2 D cell light at about half power. Wife found it at JC Penney. (Specifications are from observation, not advertising.) I think she paid about 20 bucks for it. When you consider that it can be stored anywhere without power and is ready to work in about 2 minutes after shaking to charge, it is one hell of a great innovation. There will be one in every backpack, glove box, field coat , tackle box and kitchen cabinet in our place! ;D There is a website for it too: www.excaliburelectronics.com

I think I saw one of these the last time I went by Cabela's, looked like a pretty cool little gadget, especially if you put it in a vehicle or in your mess of tools of the camping trade....
