I know that there is allot of things here to look at but as a reloading buff I like to see what is working for others and will help ware I can, so who all loads out there and what are you loading for? I only load for my family and will help anyone that will come to my place to use my loaders to get started but don't load for anyone else. I have a 12 ga, 16 ga and 20 ga press and looking to get a 28 ga and .410 press soon. (boys are costing me a arm and leg to keep them shooting) Handguns only load 9mm, .41 Rem Mag and .44 Rem Mag. Rifles: .223 Rem, 22-250 Rem, .243 Win, .257 Rob, .280 Rem, .308 Win, .300 Win Mag and .300 WSM but I am looking for new toys all the time.

I've moved around a lot the last four years, and all my stuff has stayed in a big rubbermaid tote. I'm about to start setting up again, though. I load for my .41 and .44 magnums, a .30-30 Win, and once I get dies and components, a .204 Ruger. I used to have a .357, and became very proficient at creating good loads for it. I hope to re-acquaint myself with the skill soon, and start cranking out quality shells for my .44. That's the gun I really miss shooting in bulk the most.
I shudder every time someone mentions reloading 9mm. I had two of 'em; a Beretta 92 that I'm sure you're familiar with, and a Glock 19. I load on a RCBS single stage press. I sure hope you have a fancy multi-stage rig, cause I got awful darn sick of handling those rinky-dink cases one at a time thru each stage of the process. Between that, and picking up my brass out of the yard, I got so frustrated I traded both guns off! I don't miss 'em either! Give me a revolver, or my TC any day of the week over a semi-auto 9mm.
I think the .204 is gonna be my big challenge to overcome. The only rifle ammo I've loaded was for the ol' .30-30, and I never tried to see how good I could get the gun shooting out past 100 yds. My savage is gonna be pushed out to 300 yds plus. Tiny differences at the bench will equate to big differences at long range. I hope I have the patience, and the knowledge/skill to make it happen.

It will take some time but work up a load that shoots good for your gun and it will be allot more fun busting them hogs out there . As for the 9mm, I do that on Dad's Lee 1000 Progressive and it is a dream to the single stage. This is a good press for someone that don't like the cost of a Dillon and is loading mostly handgun ammo. Yes it will load rifle but Dad has sent his back 3 times now loading rifle and went back to his RCBS for that. Oh ya, we are pushing hard to go back to the .45. that M-9 is better chunked at someone then shooting it at them.

Paws, Paws! You done left the door open again and a grunt, you know, a ground pounder done walked right in! And in the Cav as well. ;D They will never go back to the .45. During the Gulf War I we found out how terrible it was at stopping humans bent on killing you. Everyone that carried one that I knew holstered the U.S. 9mm and picked up an Iraqi .38 revolver or .45 auto. Still the military kept the 9mm. That's the politicians getting in the military hardware business. Sidenote...... Military dumb rule--- We could not bring handguns back with us after the war because we "could" use them to "kill" in the U.S.. We could and did however bring back a quad mount .50 cal. anti-aircraft battery with ammo along with a 20mm anti-aircraft battery as "museum" pieces.

mars, we are getting new .45s and allot of the units that are not pog's have got them or getting them. That is why they are looking at fielding the 6.8mm (.270 for us in the state's) I still would like to see us go back to the 7.62x51mm and be done with all this pansy plinking. but that is just me.

They should just go back to using the .308's and 30.06's again. They make the Bushmaster in 308 now I believe. I forget who said it but it fits, " if your going to shoot military ball ammo then it should be big military ball ammo.

Mars, That is why I love my old .58 cal carbine and hunt mostly with a .54 cal side-lock. Something about chunking a large lead slug at something. ;D I do agree with you about the .308 being the smallest thing to shoot in the army.
