What do you guys have in iron that you use, where did you get it and what do you use it for?
Man I got a good bit myself. I got a number 10 and a number 12 camp oven you know with legs and a rimmed top. These of course are general purpose camp site ovens that get used for everything. I glt a 14 inch skillet with a lid that will do a pound of bacon or a couple dozen eggs or a cobbler that will feed 30. I got a half dozen 9 inch skillets that get used for everything a square breakfast skillet with dividers just for show, a 10 inch griddle for pancakes just for show, a 10 inch spider, just for show, about a half dozen number 8 Dutch ovens that get used for everything, 3 or four number 10s for the same thing, a number 7 oval roaster for doing big roasts or feeding a crowd, and Lord I don't know what all else. These are the ones that are most noticeable though. On campouts I try to take the camp ovens, oval roaster, big skillet, and a couple fry pans along with my "mob feeder" stainless and aluminum pots. Most everything works well for the reenacting schtick because cast iron was widely available and used particularly in garrison or where there were extended encampments. It was however fairly expensive compared to tin and stamped steel and most households would have only a few pieces. My most favorite thing to cook in cast is "corn bread". It just does not taste right cooked in anything else! ;D

I agree on the corn bread part!
I don't have much, just a 12 inch skillet, and a dutch oven (dunno what number) with lipped lid and legs... these two pieces seem to take care of me.
Plus my squirrel cooker. ;D
