Any of y'all ever had dies made to hammer forge parts in? Ever seen a small shop-sized hammer or drop forge machine? I think I need some sort of smaller forge press to make small runs of musket parts but am not sure what I should pay.

Ray says he is using a "trip hammer" which is probably not suited to what I want to do, but will think about other sources for me to try.

A Drop forge is a really really big hammer, whacks your steel into shape usually in one hit. A press is slow and steady. Dies are just that, the forms used to make shapes around... usually made of mild steel, so if you use them a bunch, they'll wear out. You can make dies of tougher stuff, but it's harder to do, of course.
What kind of parts?

I need a mold to press/hammer metal into to make musket hammers, tumblers, sears, etc.

NOt really. I found many, but way too expenssive. I even looked at getting moulds made that I couyld hammer forge with but that too is pretty pricy for right now. Maybe someday I can justify the cost.
