I shoot every day in the basement at 10 yards but I'm itching to get out and get some distance shooting in.

I shoot three or four times a week. I've got several McKenzie targets set all around the property and I walk around and plug them from different angles.
I'll be working hard on my traditional eye here for a while since I've got a couple of hog hunts set as soon as turkey season closes. I have to shoot more to rebuild my confiedence.
What kind of bow are you flinging your sticks from?

I shoot my compound bow every day. Like n2eatn I have several targets in my back yard, each one resembles a hunting situation. I also have placed several treetsands at different heights from 12ft. to 20ft. There are also a couple of natural ground blinds. The targets are placed in positions like real deer could be standing. I change the targets every day so I can't get used to a situation.
All my shooting is done like I hunt, shooting down, up, kneeling, bending around a tree, sitting on a tree stump or in the stand and twisting by upper body back for deer that come from behind me.
My goal is to have practiced every shot that could present itself in the woods. So when that shot needs to be made I can do it with confidence.

Othmar, more like when you miss you'll feel worse about it. ;D My equipment is still packed up so, no practice, no bowhunting, until we get our own place.

Othmar, more like when you miss you'll feel worse about it. ;D My equipment is still packed up so, no practice, no bowhunting, until we get our own place. I still miss then and when, funny enough, it seems it's the easy shots I miss. However, with my practice at least I can't blame the gear for missing and that has helped me gain confidence in the equipment. My observation has been that most hunters lack confidence in the equipment and thus worry to much when they have to make the shot. I know of a few guys they miss a couple of times and then they start to doubt their equipment not their skills. If I miss I know why. Mostly because I did not pay attention to a small detail like a branch in the shooting lane or over/under estimating the distance.

Just shot mine for the first time in a little over a year. Last year I accidentally touched my string with a broadhead and SNAP!, no more string. So I bought a zebra string (worth the extra $$$ in my opinion) and shot it a few more times before I put it up. Took it out for the first time in over a year, drew back, lined up on a deer decoy at 25 yds, and hit perfect where I was aiming. Feels good to be back! Hopefully I can get a turkey in April with it!

I got some decent calls that make a pretty respectable squawk! Got to get me some new camo britches and get outside too. If this year doesn't improve for me regarding access and productive kill I'm afraid it is going to be my last year hunting. When it gets to be frustrating and burdensome then it is time to pack it in. The good news is that if I do give it up I'll have a nice pile of gear to rid out! So here is the deal one turkey and one deer minimum else it is a done and over deal.

In that case, fire up the Paws Mobile and tote yer fuzzy ass to Florida and we'll get you a turkey! I bet Brian can put you on a deer and between us, you're guaranteed to put a hole in a porker.

Yep, my club has an indoor hunters league. We have some fun and good food at half time. We have five lanes set up with two targets and fake trees to make it tougher. The range is from 10 yards to 35 yards and we vary the distance to help with estimating yardage. The decoys are changed at half time. Some of these shots are challenging. We had a turkey face on at 35 yards last night. This is some fun.

Yep, I used to LOVE them indoor tournaments.
When I was running them, at the end of the night I'd bring out the "Iron Maiden". A steel silhouette of a doe with a fist sized hole cut out of the heart area.
I'd charge a buck a shot and last man standing would get to take half the pot, the other half went to the shop for hosting the shoot. On any given night there would be a hundred shots taken at that deer and half of them crashing into the steel. Another half would crash into the arrows sticking in the hole.
The winner would walk away with forty to sixty bucks every time, the store would make the same, but the next day we made a fortune in arrow sales replacing all the ruined arrows! It was a big hit!
