I have a rather sedate season planned this year. I'll be spending a lot of my hunting season right here in Florida. Not that that's a bad thing, but I just like to travel when I can.
Gas prices are one factor, I AIN'T flying anywhere is another, but the number one reason is that the old bank account is pretty anemic these days.
So, I'm fixing to start some serious scouting in a few new spots and hopefully I'll be able to get on a couple of decent bucks. I'll also be spending a good amount of my treestand and blind time with my wingbone caller to tag a fall gobbler.
It's not as easy as it is during the spring, but I've done it before and I want to do it again!
How's about you guys? Anything special planned for this season???

I'd be all over that if I was able to Phil. I can't pack into them remote spots anymore, my leg just won't take it.
You pack in and I'l take te truck around to the other side and meet you at the top. ;D Much more than a mile and that leg'll be so stiff, Matt'll have to make two trips. One to drop his Ol' Pappy off and one to drag my fat ass in. (I'd pay him of course.) ;D
I hunted five states last season, this year I'm lucky to be able to make two. At least I don't have to worry about snow. ;D

G3Bears you need to grow you a crop of those "mortgage lifter" tomatoes! Oh and fence them off from the deer. Man oh man can you boys feel it? I'm getting that old sphincter pucker again!

Yeppers! The sphincter is puckered appropriately for the upcoming season! ;D S. Florida opens in three weeks! I got a helluva surprise yesterday. I ordered a 360hi-viz decoy a while back and it finally came in. I set it up and from up close andlooking down on it, it doesn't look like much, but when I backed off twenty yards or so...sumvagun looks real and I was getting excited about uing it when the UPS truck pulls up and delivers a bigass box. I contained a Buck Lake Bobbin' Head deer decoy from the NAHC for a field test item. Totally unexpected! So, I set it up and damned if it doesn't look SWEET! The head and tail bob and weave with the slightest breeze and I can't wait to put it to good use. I have a hunt 10/5.6.&7 on the Half Moon WMA. It'll be the first hunt of the season and is a very limited drawing. I'll have the eighteen thousand acres to myself and twenty-four other hunters! It's the first time I 've ever drawn the permit and the property is legendary in Central, Fl. for BIG bucks. It's an either sex hunt eight point or better on the buck tag and anything else can be tagged as an antlerless deer. That weekend is also the weekend traditionaly just before the first rut of the year and the bucks ought to be getting aggressive. It's reportedly a 3:1 doe to buck ratio, which is why I bought the new decoy to start with. Now I have two to use! My bow is tuned, my broadheads sharp, and I'm ready to go, I just need time to march along a little faster!
