This is an old thread, but what the heck. I couldn't find a better one and didn't want to start a new thread.
I've made a suggestion to Lodge for their Logic fish pan. Hows about a lid. This is a nice large oblong pan and would be even more versatile if it did have a lid. Perhaps even a reversible griddle that would fit it. Just my opinion based on my needs.
I like mine, but I think it's only good for baking/frying in the home setting and only for frying outdoors. Sometimes a lid is a necessity.

Got a reply from Lodge today. So, when (if) they decide to make the fish pan lid, think of me.

Our local furniture store sells Lodge and I saw one that had fish shaped "molds" in the bottom. Is that for cornbread? They also had the square skillets and the big frying pans and a couple of DO's. I called Lodge and they offer tours of their factory but only during the Cornbread Festival. Here's the link to that; www.nationalcornbread.com/

I don't know but I'm kind of thinking I just might give it a shot. I figure if you feature the Martha White in the recipe, as well as the Lodge cookware using maybe a couple of them or a special one that gets little use creating a sales attraction, keep the recipe very simple, very quick and do something that is or can become comfort food and is good enough for company You got a chance! Oh, It would be nice if it tasted good too! I was thinking along the lines of a hollow muffin, or pie configuration stuffed with stew, maybe soup, maybe sausage and apples, maybe brocolli and cheese, or even something like a Shepherd's pie made with a crust of courn bread cubes or even fried mush shingles along with the green beans and mushroom thing, mashed potatoes, turkey breast or roll and corn bread and sausage stuffing. Now if I could end up with something like a loaf cooked in a Lodge implement that could be sliced; that would be terrific with presentation. Maybe an upside down cake done in a Dutch oven and served like cake wedges. Hmmmmm......

I do not know of any personaly but there are lots of campgrounds in that area. Only problem is that most are "tourist" campgrounds where you are restricted heavily on "approved" activities. I'll do some research and may even have the time to drive over there and check them out, I'll ley you know. I'm taking just the wife so we will be hotel only.

Hey, you might want to ask if that Jim Oliver is the same one who was working with the 101st Abn Div Comptroller in the early 80s! If it is you might then ask if he remembers Jim Pennington, Donnie Pogue, Betty Greene (Adams) and Phil Foreman!

I ought to send in my Cornbread Casserole with Diced Jalapeno and Bacon Bits recipe. I ain't gonna make it to TN if I'm a finalist though. Not in April! They should hold these things after turkey season. Good luck fella's! Know what though? If ya'll are going anyway, I might just send it in. If it's selected, I'll post the recipe here on OCC and you can experiment with it if you wanna cook it up under the big tent in the contest.

Toby, why not submit it anyway? If it wins you will have to give it up by default since you can't attend. So what? At least you'll know you made the cut.

I've been toying about with a cornbread recipe for Girly Girl...one without any wheat or wheat glutin in it...but I was looking at my cornbread cooking dish that I use in the oven sometimes and realized it says mircowave safe on the bottom ..see were I'm heading with this?? ?? I have never done much more than warm up coffee, soup and made rice in the damned thing in the last 18yrs I've had it taking up space on the counter...just wondering what it would turn out like if I was to say try and bake (?) cornbread in it...wonder if I would soon post this , this , this or this ..anyone ever make (bake) cornbread, muffins etc in a microwave?

Yep; in a hotel room I baked cup cakes, corn bread and muffins in the nuke while I cooked a pot of beans in their coffee pot (full sized Mr. Coffee). I fried eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, cooked bacon, sausages, pork chops, steaks, brats, and have also done French toast, mashed potatoes, soups and stews. While on the road I always carried a hot plate, fry pan, cook pot, melamine Microwave browning dish, and a couple ramikins. ;D In a pinch you can always call the front desk and get an electric iron and flip it over and drop the handle into the rectangular ice bucket making a dandy hot plate! I was toying with the idea of a hotel traveler DIY cook book more for the innovation and humor than as a practical thing but it damn sure does work! When I was snow bound in the hotel in DC for six days I ate well up to the point the weather was so bad the grocery across the street ran out of food!
