The early hunting season is over. The regular deer season starts in PA on Monday November 28, '05. I'll be in Butler County with my son and some other LE friends of his. I'm required to wear the funny orange stuff , but the way folks hunt this season, it IS safer that way . I will be using my .54 caliber though . Hunting squirrel requires the orange also. but, the photo below is how I prefer to hunt them . I hunt deer in the Flintlock season in period attire with some of my friends who also dress for it. ;D Is there anyone else that decks out period?

Heck yeah, I always hunt in period attire; early 21st century ;D
I love my BP rifles and have been doing a lot of hunting with my .50 percussion rifle, but I haven't killed anything with it yet. I've been hunting most specifically for hogs, but I'm going in the morning for whitetail with it.
I have a .45 PA style flintlock that is fun to shoot, but I can't hit a bull in the ass with it. Anything past thirty yards and my groups go to heck. That's okay though, because it's just a fun gun. I'm thinking on getting a .50 hawkin style flintlock for my primary hunting gun and getting away from the percussion caps altogether.
I'm 90% of the time a bowhunter, but I've been using these older guns a lot for an article I'm doing and have been having a great time. I'll be doing a lot more BP hunting from now on.
I haven't gotten into the clothing and stuff yet, but I'm slowly collecting more and more old timey shooting accesories.
