Our black berries are just starting to ripen Mandy. Give it another week, then drive on down and visit your Granny. While you're down, pick berries until your little hearts delight here at my place. An old railroad bed runs behind the property and there's blackberry vines for about a miles or so stretch that always produce nice and sweet. I'm going to be taking the kids out next weekend for the first picking. We've already got a cobbler in mind!

That sounds like a plan, would be a nice change but the arse wouldnt let me prolly. Eh i would have to find a way to get time off from the new job, they wouldnt like it either i think. I think when the ones here come into season ill pick a whole bunch of them. Addison didnt seem to fond of the few early ones we found cause they we a lil tart but i think that she'll like em when they turn sweet.

Got 2 strawberries and the raspberries are barely fit for the birds. Got two and a half acres of thorns this year; no rain! ;(

I know what you mean Paws. The late July & and August drought came way too early. First the rain came at the wrong time for our shroom season, and now our berries aint got no juice!

Berries are in record numbers this season. We got cobblers, jelly, and preserves. I'll see if I can post a pic of three of the kids on a picking trip I took them on.

well they're doin better then I would have. If I'd been in that pic with them my smile would be accented by deep red berry stains. Doubt there'd be enough left for a pie or cobbler by the time I got home!
