This is exactly what I have done to control my diabetes and weight problem........... Some of the few things that I have done are......Cutting back on all starches, and hydrogenated foods..... If I want a starch, its in small amounts like 2 tablspoons of potato, pasta or rice..... Things I also cut out are hydrogenated foods such as pretzels, potato chips..... I eat real butter, not margerins as margerins has been proven to be one molicule away from being plastic.... I eat real eggs....and as many as I want......Eggs actually have an ingrediant that prevents high levels of cholestrol....An example of how it helped me....My cholestrol was once 450+, now its down to 144..... My triglycerides have dropped from 1550+ to under 300.... My sugar or A1C is 6.1 I can eat that 16 oz steak without feeling guilty....but I surround them with green veggies .... I do not count calories nor carbs..... I dont make exchanges in my meal plans, because it confuses the crap out of me..... There are products out there that you can buy which are low carb like bread and milk..... The proof that my system works is that I have been able to discontinue taking insulin, and I've cut my oral meds by 75%....while losing almost 60lbs.... Now recently, I increased my carbs because I was close to hypogycemia alot and didnt like the effect.....My 3 mos blood sugar avereage had dropped to 83....What I found by increasing my carbs, my avereage blood sugar rose to 111, but I also put on 8lbs....so its back to the way it was.....I'll hit my numbers somewhere in the middle...... I like the way I'm eating, its not a chore like most diets which fail again and again in only a few weeks or months only in disgust to have to start all over again...And oh yes, my dietician has begun to use my methods with her diabetic patients and she said it has worked for her.........What I give up, at times I will eat and in moderation, it becomes a treat for me....and thats my mind set....as I've said many times before, anyone interested just email or PM me for help.........

Your diet discipline and exercise routines are similar to my Aunt Eloise. She too is in better condition today than ever before with a similar A1c. She has lost significant weight and is in much better physical health having reduced her need for medications to virtually nothing. Comparing the significance of exercise, diet, routines, and medications it seems that the most effective component is first routine or regularity of habit followed closely by physical exercise and then diet. Other factors which significantly affect diabetes appear to be stress, sleep habits, and state of mind. In my case, I lead a very slothful lifestyle and my disease is in control only because of the medications and fairly well observed diet regimen.

Of course the old axiom applies here....."If I knew then what I know now!!!".......I was very active all my life, but the thing that had to be the problem was my diet and European ethniticity...Eating all flour and sugar products and not realizing I had a bad tolerance for these foods.....along with finding out that I had sleep apnea wasn't too much of a thrill either.....I remember about 14 years ago, while I was living in upstate NY, I had a doctor who started to become concerned with my high cholestrol because his nurse who drew my blood passed a coment to him, that she could see the fat in the vile of blood......I dont know if she was kidding or not, but when the results came back WOW!!! It was bad..........................

After basic training in the USAF 1967 I just got lazy. I had worked my butt off while growing up daily and diet was a matter of what is there in the house to eat and often the answer was nothing. It seems that the more prosporous I became the less physical activity I got into or enjoyed until I became my rotund, flacid self that I am today. That's going to change real soon as I have become thoroughly disgusted with myself. If I can keep up the jpace I have held for the past week things will work out. ;D

YOU mean stress can play a major part in your high blood sugar. If thats true, then my diet might not be my problem. With no job, trying to get training for another occupation, which is hard for an old person who can't remember anything anymore like I use to and with being sued by all the bill collecters, paying what bill I can to keep it getting cut off then having another bill come up late. Not knowing when I can get propane. Wondering if there will be a job avalible when I get out of school because all of the other companies closing around here and so many people out of work now and looking for jobs like me. Now I know why I have that knot in my stomic and I can't sleep. All this time I thought it was because of something I ate.

Now I know why I have that knot in my stomic and I can't sleep. All this time I thought it was because of something I ate. Yes my dear I believe I can confirm that my buddy Kenny and I have sufficient empiracle evidence to indicate that stress does indeed affect glucose levels. Makes sense too when you think about it. With respect to instincts the human is born with only a few, one is to survive via "fight or flight". That's what stress activates. Stress poses a danger before you and the body reacts and prepares itself to fight the danger or flee. Metabloism goes up to include heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, nerves are on edge, and your body begins to supply more energy to the cells and of course into the blood stream. If the cells have a problem accepting the energy, like we type IIs have, then the glucose levels in the blood will have increased. Imagine the bodies reaction when the stress is continual. So, calm down; it'll help! Kenny's Momma's solution to stress and high blood pressure was a half a banana and a half cup of cottage cheese and she says to eat it real slow! ;D p.s. Re-look that diet anyway cause it will help with the effort and the stress as well. What are you doing for stress reduction and don't say sex!

Are you sure you have diabetes? Seems you should be much sweeter than that.
