What a great day I had Saturday...got the birds on about 3:30 in the afternoon and we were eating by 5:15...the turkeys turned out just beutiful...got lots of pictures..only I don't have a clue as to how to get them on this site..so a little help is required..maybe I can email them to someone and he can post them ;D ;D...spent the rest of the evening with my sweety...eating, lounging about and watching our host's fab fireworks display...Wyane (the host) is a bit of an outdoor chef in his own right...has a recipe for a right mean pork loin done on the grill...well, gota run for now, still lots of the weekend left ;D ;D everyone have a safe and happy 4th

Here are the steps. 1. Prep the area: lay down enough foil to cover the area of the can... drive a green stick, just long enough to go a few inches into the ground and long enough to not poke trough the top of the bird, in the center. wrap it in foil... 2. Start 10# of charcoal... 3. Prep the birds..you can use most any kind of seasonings or injection you like..you don't have to as they are great plain, be sure to cover the wing tips with foil you can also put a small piece right on top this keeps thes parts from burning. 4. When the charcoal is white hot place the bird on the stick and center the can over the top of it..add a couple of rows of coals around the bottom edge of the can and a layer on top... 5. Have a couple of beers and relax..then when about 30 min have passed replace the burned down charcoal with unburned pieces..do this every 15 min for the next hour... Cooking time and charcoal consumption depends on how big the bird is..roughly a 10# bird cooks in aboput 1 hour, a 20#er in about 2 hours...the largest I have done is a 25 in 2 1/2 hours and used 25# of charcoal..you'll have left over burn coals in any case...hope ya'll give this a try..

Forgot to say in that first post that it's 10# of charcoal per bird/can....All that's good and well but this big dummy put Girly Girl in charge of the camera this round and she got so caught up in shooting the breeze with my family that she done forgot to take pictures of the process....looked about the same but them birds was 20# each...and if it wernt for Uncle John I would have missed out on it ;D ;D ;D

Thanks Toby! Old Bob Boyd on FFRUS was trying to post a GC Turkey bird recipe link but for some reason the link didn't make it. I just linked his post to this so old TT can show off a litle!
