Pick Your Own Helps to find a farm near you where you can obtain fresh produce and provides tips on the proper way to handle and prepare it. A terrific site for those who wish a "hands on" experience without tilling the ground! ;D

Wish I had been Steve. I doubt I'd be suffering from this freakin' diabetes now! No sir, that is a picture from their site. They posted permission to link to any page. It really is a great site! I stumbled into them looking for a way to freeze corn on the cob. They are actually having success with it! ;D

Thanks for the link! Little late for this season, but I had the local ones add me to their mailing lists. I found several orchards and blueberry patches within 30 miles and one place just down the road that has an entire vegetable selection that's PYO. Everything from radishes and carrots to beans and celery. Now I know who's going to inherit my steamer trunk full of veggie seeds!

Just did a search for Athens Co. area. Only one listed. Now I KNOW there are more than that!! Spill it! Where are they all. I know of an orchard around Albany (Gillogy - ?sp.). Local phone book is about as useful as toilet paper. I need addresses, phone numbers, ect. of any you know of. Also if you know of any green houses that have veggie plants (just in case I get the notion to set anything out)........ Heck, I'm lucky to find my way back home around here. Might as well get lost in a truck-patch. It's more fun. ;D

Tune in to WAIS/WSEO radio around noonish and give them a call and ask for local growers. Also watch the classifieds in the Messenger. Gillogolys is a bitch to find. If I can get route numbers and names I'll give you directions.
