Ken,
Here is some info on Bull Shoals Lake.
The Corps of Engineers says that you cannot have a full time home on the lake. You can have a houseboat etc but it is to be used for recreational purposes and docked at a marina or private dock. Their phone number is 870-425-2700 or go to usace, little rock for a web-site.
Bull shoals lake Boat Dock is a marina that rents slips for houseboats. Their phone number is 870-445-4424. Not sure what their website address is but do a google and just type in bull shoals and they will come up.
Need anything else just ask.

Ken you might want to think about relocating lto either French Gyana or the Philippines. French Gyana is the cheapest place in the world to live and the average per capita income in the PI is 300 dollars (US) per year. If you can must a 50K bank deposit, which can be used to lease property, the PI will grant you a quota free retirement for life visa. Other than that man get yourself an RV and keep the mother on the move! ;D Orrrr get yourself a job with the State government where you can get a second retirement. Shouldn't take over five or ten years to get vested with some pretty decent benies. Orrrrr forget about retiring and keep on working! I retired at 44 with about 23 percent of full retifrement plus enough of a bonus to pay cash for a house. That was $1,600.00 per month, now $1,800.00. I ain't going back to work unless mom and I split which looks very likely and I'll scrip and save every penny I can pinch not wasting a farthing until I croak.

Thanx for the info guys. I am kinda interested to see what AR stand on "shantyboats" is compared to say Louisiana, where there are lots of folks still living on the water back in the bayous. I've got a few places in the US I'm checking out including the Sacramento Delta and the Gulf and Intercoastal Waterways. Also offshore in Mexico I know of a great place, as well as Costa Rica (but the Americans seem to have messed that place up already. The only problem with French Guyana is that it IS part of France, and they're not fond of us Yanks. Suriname might be better, being an independent republic. I need to check out the current government though. Don't know how Guyana and Suriname are about Americans coming to live though...
For around $5K US, I can build an 8x 60 ft. plywood version of an English Canal boat, complete with solar generator, composting toilet, water purification system for gray/black water, and a de-humidifier/watermaker.

Fangs ain't the problem - I just don't like beans of any kind. Green beans, lima beans, red beans, pinto beans, pork and beans - doesn't matter what kind.
I think it comes from when I was a kid. Seems like we had some kind of bean for every meal and I guess I just got burned out on them.

But Rich, those are all beans! ;D Old lady brought home some beans you would like. Roasted soy beans about peanut size flavored with wasabi horseradish. Takes your breath away for a minute!

Well, Phil I guess you're right - maybe I don't dislike ALL beans. I have actually tried the soy beans roasted and they aren't too bad. Have kind of a nutty taste to them - and, they're supposed to be good for you too.
I've got a good friend who is from Tennessee but lives in Alaska. We went to my cabin one time and he said he would do the cooking. I said, "okay with me." Then he pulls out these beans and a hock. I told him I'd eat them because he was doing the cooking but he would definitely regret it. The cabin was a chalet style - 18 x 20. The next morning he was outside early because he thought he was going to die from the stench coming from my bunk and he promised to never feed me beans again.
Of course being lactose intolerant doesn't help either. Don't ever give me any milk - you and I both will regret it. I've even tried all the lactaid and beano products and they don't help. I'm still a stinker. ;D
