OK We are back home now. Thursday Cyndi and I went to the VA hospital in Little Rock to try and get me into the system. Ever since I got out of the Navy (in '84) I could have had veteran benefits and I didn't know it. Anyway, I have been having trouble with my legs, meaning I can barely walk, and not in a straight line. My balance has been off too. So I went to the VA hospital and they admitted me for an over night stay. They think that I have an absorption issue meaning my stomach isn't absorbing Vitamin B12 like it should. They think this is causing the weakness in my legs and feet. They also did an MRI on my head and neck area and found a mass that they didn't know was there. It is between the 2 carotid arteries that run up the left side of the neck. The MRI didn't get a good picture of it (since they weren't looking for it)and I am supposed to get either another MRI or a CT scan in about a month to try and get a better look at it. The surgeons said that rarely does this mass turn into cancer but that it will probably need to come out anyway. While in the VA they ran all sorts of blood work on me. They checked for excess zinc in my body, which causes low copper in the body. This could have something to do with my condition. So to make a long story short, they really don't know what is causing my weak legs and loss of balance but they are still looking.

Well it looks like I'm back. I told told Toby on Facebook that I was looking at buying Dragon voice recognition software. When Toby heard this he was tickled to death s so I went out and bought one. As soon as I learn to use this I will start posting sermon notes again.
So if anyone has any complaints blame Toby!!

So if anyone has any complaints blame Toby!! I've had some bad days and I've had some hills to climb. I've had some weary days and some sleepless nights. But when I look around and I think things over, All of my good days outweigh my bad days. So, I won't complain!
Oh, the Lord's been so good to me! Yes, He's been so good to me! More than this old world or you could ever be. He's been so good to me! He dried all of my tears away And turned my midnights into day. So, I'll just say, "Thank you, Lord I won't complain."
---"I won't complain", as sung by Rev. Paul Jones (first verse and chorus)

As soon as I get some time I will start trying to catch up on my sermon notes. I will have to go back and review to find out where I am exactly on these notes. Currently I am preaching in the book of I Corinthians and I am learning a lot. Hopefully my job will settle down in a week or so and I will be able to get back to posting my notes are at least starting on them. Health update: on April 16, 2003 I went back to the VA hospital in Little Rock. They are still trying to figure out why I walk the way I do. I guess you could say I walk like an old man or maybe like Phil . The latest "theory" is that I have arthritis in both my neck, my spine, and my hips. One of the vertebrae in my lower back is almost completely gone. I don't know if there's anything that can be done. Please keep me in your prayers.

Better than some of the things I have been called I guess..

Walk that a way cause you ain't got enough meat on yer bones to support yer own skeleton... Tell Miss Cindi to fix you up some fried taters n a couple bacon sammiches; you'll straighten right out and have less trouble in a strong wind, haha! Look into a good set of orthotics, on a serious note. Buddy of mine's dad was having a lot of back, neck, and hip problems and a big part of his problem was his feet were turning out and misaligning his body as he walked. He bought the special corrective footgear and helped him out a lot. Might see if the VA podiatrist will give you a consult.
