My calf pens and some of my new holstein steers. Here's Annabelle about to get milked. Chicken and my big billy, Chubs Chicken in the pea patch. (Can't pick up a camera without she's ready to get in front of it, lol) Chicken and my beefmaster heiffer, Scarlet. Mr. Pig getting a cool drink. Chicken caught this thief trying to steal her eggs in the chicken yard.

Thanks Snake! I took up a bunch of them and thought I'd post a few. Love them critters. We get around three quarts of goat milk a day, a dozen or more eggs, and just put 248#'s of fresh pork in the freezer and beef as we need it. Got enough peas coming on that we'll have plenty to can or freeze and the squash, green beans, okra, corn, onions, and turnips are coming along micely too.

Completely agree! By the way bud, don't know if you noticed but your little sister has gone from a sassy smart mouthed kid to "drop dead gorgeous" in the past few years! Way to grow them Benoits!

Oh, I've noticed! I've run off plenty of horny little punks who've come snifing around.
The worst was one kid, 19, who showed up with a playboy bunny hat turned sideways, his pants under his ass, and a thick fake gold chain with a giant dollar sign hanging off of it. She didn't even know the guy! He followed her home from the store and hit on her in the driveway. I stepped around the truck and slapped the hat off his head told him to get the hell away or I'd have his ass in jail for stalking.
She just laughed at him and asked if he'd ever heard of a belt.
She's a good kid, but a HUGE camera hog, lol! ;D
Buddy of mine just got bunch of wild hogs in a trap and asked if I wanted any. I told him to save me a couple of sows to feed out, so I'll go get them this afternoon. AND, my Dad made a deal with the guy at the bread store in Lecanto to pick up all their old stuff. Gonna be some cheap raised pork!

Love you to Freddie! Ain't that what the Bible says, to love them what ain't as smart nor purty as you are? Besides, being from Arkysaw, how'd you know if I was a nit; you been studying? It's okay to notice Snake, it damn shore ain't no secret. She's my sister, only eighteen years my junior. She's also a country/gospel singer and got a pretty good career going. Lots of local modelling offers too, but she's not interested in modelling. She just wants to sing her songs and play with the critters on the farm.

Sounds just like my Grandma Slater; pure innocence shined on her face and humility permeated her presence. God bless her heart. Toby I sure hope you realize how wonderfully blessed you are to have such a family my friend.

Actually, she wants to move to TN very bad.
She does two weeklong shows a year at the Country Tonight theater in Seviereville, near Pigeon Forge with my dad and older sister Michelle, but she's the star, so to speak.
She's sang with a bunch of the old-timers like Helen Cornelius, Mel Tillis, and John Conley.
I'll post some pics later from their shows.

Thanks for sharing the pics! What kind of pig is that? Wild? female boar? Do they roam your woods? How far away were you from it? Looks like a perfectly placed hit, but what do I know? Were you happy with it? I've heard you have to keep an eye out for wild boar in WV since folks have released them for hunting. Is that what you've got there? I may have my roots in vegetarianism but I've got to admit that that the idea of you out getting your pig, cleaning, etc., and then popping a ham in the oven sounds mighty appealing. I can almost smell it. Enjoy! Nice shot of the mules too! How sweet. Bonnie and Gomer

"What kind of pig is that?" Wild hog decendent of those Spanish hogs released by the Conquistadores during the settlement of the state as far back as 1540.
"female boar?" Female, sow
"Do they roam your woods?" Pretty much the entire state, we have tree times the population of wild hogs than we do whitetail deer.
"How far away were you from it? Looks like a perfectly placed hit, but what do I know? Were you happy with it?" About seventeen yards, two inches back from where I was aiming, and yes I'm quite happy as the shot had the effect I was looing for, which was to anchor the hog so as not to have to trail it through the thick growth.
"I've heard you have to keep an eye out for wild boar in WV since folks have released them for hunting." Actually, most of the feral hogs roaming WV are from the old days of free ranging hog farming. Domesticated animals gone totally wild after a few generations of living in the woods. Sure, there may be some of the Russian variety imported by sportsmen, but by and large, they're mostly feral. And yes, you should respect them as you would a bear...rarely go out of their way to harm you, but they do have their moments...I have scars to prove it!

Chicken asked me to post a picture of her new horse, Hope. Hope's a registered T-bred who's been on the track a few times and was used as a brood mare for eight years. Now she's just a trail horse and super calm mount who's fast as greased lightening when Chicken lets her run. Got s'more just like her if you know anybody interested. Anyway, now that she's in the saddle all the time, she's spending less time in the kitchen, which means I don't get to play cullinary guinea pig nearly as often. Darn...

Oh man! I just got a GREAT buy on a pair of Brahman/Charlais calves. Purtiest little bull calves I ever did see! I don't have pics yet, but I'll get some. Just had a big mess of ambrosia earlier and oh man was it good! All from our own farm too! Granny put it together with navel oranges, grapefruit, pineapple, pecans, valencia oranges, and comquats. Man oh man is that good!
