Well what's everybody puttin on the table for Memorial Day besides a big gratitude to all, past, present and future Vets. Mrs snake and myself will be grilling out for my oldest daughter, her husband and my grandson and granddaughter. The planned menu will be 6 1" club steaks, doz ears of corn. Got 8 real nice peaches so I thing I'll throw together a peach cobbler and serve with a scoop of peach ice cream. I'll tell you I can remember when I could of bought a 1/4 side of beef for what I paid for those 6 steaks. Now if the weather will co-operate snake-eyes Hope you all have a safe holiday

We'll be grilling too, only it'll be hamburgers and hotdogs. We'll also have a bushell of corn on the cob boiled up, some tater salad, some noodle salad, and a couple of big watermelons on ice in the cooler. There'll be a couple of gallons of sweet tea and lots of grins! Gonna be 90 degrees out and no cloud cover either, so we're gonna set up the tarps tomorrow or everyone'll be laid out for a heat stroke. Got my older Sister Michelle and that thing she married, my brother Dusty and his girlfriend, Barbi (my on again off again) will be joining me than there'll be Mom and Dad, Granny, three youngins, some old friends of the family Charlie and Jeanine with their son, and a couple of me and dad's coonhunting buddies from years ago, Jimmy and allen with their wives. Shaping up to be a big deal, but we aren't going to forget why we're gathering. Dad, Charlie and Jimmy are Vietnam era vets, Allen served in Desert Storm, and we're all from military families. God Bless all who've served!!!

Bought some spud salad, egg salad and made some deviled eggs, baked beans, and hot dogs. Had that mess with some ice cream and a barley pop and called it a celebration.

Well, maybe some aerial display fireworks, a little Revell's Balero in the background, crickets with a few lightening bugs and maybe a little stink finger!

Sunday breakfast was soft boiled eggs from the neighbor's sexlink chickens, served on my homemade bread with cream cheese and strawberry jam. Lunch was turkey sandwiches (dad's treat from spring gobbler season), watermelon, mom's bread & butter pickles, strawberry shortcake w/ whipped cream (Mom & I picked the strawberries. Cream was from "Dottie's" Saturday night milking.) Monday lunch was cheeseburgers (Burger from a "stag" heifer dad had beefed before they moved. Cheese was mom's "Hill Folk" variety. Lettuce from the garden. Mayo was homemade using more eggs from the neighbor.) Monday supper was from the truck stop. Couple of somethings called jalapeno super dogs, a whole bag of krispy creme crullers, 64-oz diet coke, and a handfull of peppermint candy.

Aside from the usual burgers and dogs for the holiday, my Sister Michelle surpised everyone with three dozen blue crabs and five pounds of pealed shrimp.
So, never one to miss out on an opportunity; Dad made a huge pot of gumbo with her seafood and some italian sausage. Together with white rice, it was awesome!!!
Best of all, there was a ton of leftovers! ;D ;D ;D
