I am heading out in the morning to set up camp. My elk tag, cow, is good come friday. Brian sent me a cow call and a bugle I will be putting to work. Sound good in the living room, now will have to see what the elk think of them.

Well I came home with my tag. I was into elk every day but the only ones I could get in my shooting lanes were bulls, the cows and calves came up behind me or to my right. Could have killed 5 different bulls, 6 if I count the 7x? I walked up behind at 60 yds just 200 yds from my camp. Oh well, ain't the first tag I have eaten and won't be the last. I was able to work with Brian's calls and gave him some tips that will, IMO, improve them. Had a good time, covered some country and saw lots of elk so it was a good hunt from my side of the fence.

Done guiding so now I hope to get a couple days of hunting for myself in, deer season is over the end of the month until Aug. Hope I can find a buck that is lazy and resting up after the rut, hard of hearing might be good too since I ain't that sneaky at 6'2" and 260 lbs. Hopefully I can get out of here tomorrow, will see how the chores go today.
