We lost some school days here during the snow. The school officials suggested they make it up by having the kids stay an extra 30-40 minutes each school day. The parents as well as the school board approved. So, the kids are getting home a little late these days, but will not have to stay longer at the end of the year. I think they take one extra class in each subject per week.

Jerry, I wish they did that here. At least I scheduled our vacation in mid-June. If I had scheduled it a week earlier we may not have been able to leave on time because of the make-up days. I got the pipe unfroze in my boys tub/shower. I stuck a heater in the tub on high all day and it finally worked. I think that and the combination of the sun shining on that part of the house helped thaw it out.

When I was a young man, I could diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle diddle all the day. But now I'm old and even a whiff of fish will scare me away. - Phil

My youngest son plays basketball for his school's 7th/8th grade team. I have never liked basketball. But, I go to every game and practice with him and always encourage him to give his best. Which he always does. He has gotten much better at the game since that first practice. I have heard his coaches say they wish they had a whole team of kids like him. No he is not a great ball handler nor does he score a lot. He does however, put his heart into it. Today they have a game. They have lost all but two games since the season started back in late November. I am really hoping they win today. It would be good for their morale as a team. We'll see.

Hoping for a victory, but win or lose take the team out for ice cream and compliment each and every player for whatever it is they do well. Make it a habit. It is important that you build into your new leadership role I just assigned to you!

I always make sure he knows how proud of him I am for what he does..win or lose. He is not the whole team but he is an integral part of it.

Looks like we need to get our Priest to come to a game and bless the team before they go out onto the court. They lost again. My son played well. He scored nine points. Three of them came from two times at the free throw line when he was fouled. After the game we stopped by my little sister's house to pick up my niece. She just turned 11 so we took her out to eat and of course had a card with money in it for her too. We had a fine time.

I was lying in bed listening to my department adio when I heard them dispatch units to my little brother's house. His furnace was on fire. I waited a while then calle him. Fortunately the fire was contained to the furnace. I told him they are welcome to stay at my house until the furnace is fixed. They got lucky.

They still don't have power so they are still here. No problem; glad that I can help them out.

I have been learning some new dances (at least for me) from a woman I have been seeing lately. Now before anyone says anything, PHIL , not to worry. She and I have an understanding of how we want our lives to be. There is no committment. I am at about the 1 1/2 year mark of my last divorce an a year away from the nazi. She is becoming a great friend and someone I like to spend time with. And for now I think that is the way it should be. I think I am doing pretty good anyways. I mean, I met her back in September but never had a date with her until this month. We talked and emailed quite a bit in the beginning and nothing more. I finally realized that I have all the time in the world until I get serious again. It is a feeling of relief if that makes any sense.

Well we could call it maturity, repentance, or lessons well learned, or; we could call it fear! It may be a direct result of being responsible for Toby. Just to make sure though you better ask your Urologist to check for neuropathy and get a sperm count. )Or maybe your definition of "date" is like Sue's meaning "screwed my brains out."

Got home from work this morning only to discover the power was out. A neighbor told me it had been out since 03:00. The temp inside was 57*. I lit the gas fireplace and raised it to 72* upstairs while it only went up to 61* downstairs. Just as I was leaving to pick up my kids for their dentist visit the power came on. That was at 14:00. I should consider myself one of the lucky ones since it was only off for a few hours.
