Well, deer season starts next Monday 12/1 for gun hunters here in Ohio. Which means shotgun slugs, muzzleloaders both traditional and the other.Plus modern handguns .38 cal +. My son,grandsons,son-in-law and a few others will be headed to the Logan area of Wayne National Forrest. Will be taking a small travel trailer and drop off in the general area Sat morning. This is just a place to gather for lunch. We will actually be staying in a motel in Logan, Shawnee Inn. Not fancy, but roach free, and cable TV. So after Fri will talk to you all Weds of next week. Boss would only give me three days off, Sun,Mon & Tues, which is one day more than he usually does. Either he is a hunter or the economy is so bad they can get by without me snake-eyes I didn't mention I will be using my .45 Cal. traditional percussion muzzleloader.

If you get bored up around Wayne National drop down toward Hollister or just short of it and try your luck in Trimble Wildlife area. You can get good topo maps just outside of Nelsonville on the far side at the wildlife center. If you get the time give me a shout and I'll meet up with you for a cup of Joe somewhere.

Phil, One thing about the group I hunt with is, it is never boring.Often times hilarious, but never boring .My son is in charge of driving,so I kind of go where he takes me. We hope to be in Logan Sun night by 6p. If you happen to be in the area of 33/664 around that time it would my pleasure to meet with you. I would make it 7p though as I could make that happen. Regardless we will meet sometime,of that I am sure! snake-eyes

Well I guess it is official! When I was a young fella of just eighteen I was riding the bus from Columbus back to Athens having just arived from |Amarillo fresh out of USAF Technical School for a thirty day leave before my first assignment. On the bus a little shaver, bout six I guess, says to his Momma; "Momma is that man a pilot?" First time I was ever called a man so I guessed I must be one. Well, yesterday leaving church a little shaver and his buddy were playing hide and seek when one says; Look out that old man will see you!"

I read that to mean it was too cold or (insert excuse here) for old farts to hunt. ;D

No it doesn't get too cold to hunt. We just get too damned weak to carry all the gear we need to keep us warm enough to hunt! ;O

Have been hearing lots of shots close to the house, but I haven't made it out yet. Does pouring a pan of 304o peanut brittle over all the fingers on your trigger hand a legitimate excuse, or should I count the cold weather a blessing to the healing process?

Snake, how'd you boys do? ;D Well we returned late Tues after hunting two days. My one grandson got a nice 6pt(his first buck) with a 20guage slug. My son got a doe with his Ruger 44mag. I got a doe with my 45cal traditional muzzleloader. The other grandson and his father will be out Fri and Sat to get their's. It would have been a great hunt even without any deer. There is nothing that gives greater satisfaction than to see a son/daughter,grandson/granddaughter harvest their first deer.IMHO snake-eyes ;D
