I went back, said my piece,IEcomplaints, and went to the weight loss center.
I made the decision or more importantly decisions that what I was and wasn't doing wasn't working and in fact I was going the wrong way.
So;
Monday, Wednesday and Friday I have a 1 hour session with a trainer for the physical part.
I get the schedule tomorrow for the diet/nutrition part.
Tuesday,Thursday,Saturday and Sunday I will have a schedule of exercises to do at the gym plus an at home schedule. So I will be at the gym every day.
I finish the testing tomorrow as well but so far I'm starting at;
216 pounds of non fat body weight. That's what I would weigh without any body fat and nothing but muscle,organs and bones.
However I weigh 382 pounds
My calculated optimum weight is 277 pounds.
Which means I have 105 pounds to lose minimum.
Using the various measurements,metabolism,ect., some of which get finished tomorrow, it will take 6- 9 months to get there IF I follow everything to the letter.
My doctor(MD) concurs with the plan.
I signed up for 72 sessions with a trainer and 2 years with the diet/nutrition group. Cost with the gym membership is $468. a month. $39. monthly gym membership,$30. a month for the diet/nutritionists and $399. for the trainer(s).
Yea, it was time to get serious.

Mars, lots of new information is being found out about how and why we lose or gain body fat. Talk to a Nutritionist who keeps current. One thing for sure seems to be artificial sweeteners. Another is HFCS, corn fed meat products, and then there is my problem;. can't keep my mouth shut at the dinner table. Stress can be a biggie; not that you eat more, but that under stress the hormones cause the body to retain/store more crap in the fat cells. Weights, especially free weights can help de-stress. Best of luck with this my man.

I had my first work out with the nutritionist today.Her workout is metabolism focused.
I have my first workout with the trainer tomorrow.
Paws, they said weight problems come from either eating too much or too little exercise and asked which ONE I thought was my problem. I told them it was BOTH.
OOPPS;
They actualy listened and they now have a rest area. I told them that such was needed for breaks in between workouts. Their philosophy was to keep people moving and not sitting but I told them that doing an hour on the treadmill it would be nice to sit and take a break for a few minutes before starting on something else without having to go back to the locker room. I told them if they thought that going to the locker room wasn't a big deal then they needed to go sit on the bench and get the view of the 70-80 year old men coming and going to the showers.

Man that metabolism based on caloric input and output is old school. Get yourself a Nutritionist who is up to date. Try this just for the heck of it. Two cups hot beef boullion or broth with a teaspoon of chili powder. ;D Good stuff!

LOL, talking diets is like talking politics and religion. My trainer is Fred. We did squats,bench press,crunches,stairs and the eliptical machine as a warm up and cool down. Tomorrow I'm to do the eliptical for 20 minutes then atleast 2 laps walking on the track. He said he knew it seemed a waste to come in for just 30 minutes but he didn't want me to push to much at this time. I told him I could "chill"(haha) in the sauna for a little bit and he agreed with that. Sunday I'm not to do anything and to take the day off. Monday I get the actual diet plan and I'll be off the introductory phase then it's time with the trainer.

I start phase 2 of the diet today. Low in meat, 3oz instead of 4 but more cooked starches and vegetables and 3 meals with 2 in between smaller meals instead of just 3 meals. This phase uses rice.pasta and potatoes where the other did not.
I also had the 2nd session with the trainer. I hurt! Kinda the point though.
I lost 7 pounds.

My mothers doctor recomended this gym so I picked her up this morning and she talked to the people while I worked out. I get done my workout and my mother is still talking to the gym people so I go to check on my wife and she has a chocolate/banana shake and an energy bar. I told her I come to workout and she comes to pig out. My mother and wife both signed up for a 2 week trial and joined a group called Silver Sneakers.

Not too shabby! ;D My best was 214 to 168 in five weeks and two days on a chef salad and beer diet with two hour daily work outs including an hour of free weights. 1972 I think.

I worked out with the trainer today and I convinced him( wasn't hard to do ) that going outside and enjoying the sun and 60 degree temp was better then inside.
Did wind sprints as I was in the mood to run as my energy has greatly increased and some barbell exercises. The trainer went inside and came back out with a weighted vest. He had 26 pounds in it to simulate the weight I lost and we walked 1/3 of a mile as I wore the vest. It about killed me. Then we did another 1/3 without it just to show me the difference. Pretty cool demostration.
Then I weighed in at 352. Down 30 pounds from 382 in 6 weeks.

Weighed in today at 346lbs. Down another 3 pounds! A hard 3 pounds at that! No more quick "water weight" to come off so everything is going to be fat and harder to get rid of.
On the nutrition side I need to pick up some on vegetables and add a little more starches.

Outstanding man! Hang in there. I've gained back about 13 pounds and am starting to feel flabby. I get exhausted at about twenty minutes into my walks now. Yesterday I worked from 0900 to 1730 cooking for that funeral and today am stiff and sore all over.
