Got a question. I got an opportunity to buy a Ruger Blackhawk .357 in really good condition (2prev.owners) or a Uberti .45LC brand new for the same money; $250.00.
Which would you guys go with?
Dad wants a higher caliber SA revolver than his .22lr/.22mag Ruger SA. Wants it for side carry on horseback hog hunts, so his S&W.357 won't fit the bill....not cowboy enough.
Both are plenty of medicine for pig poppin' from the saddle, but any of you have biases for one over the other?

Not a single hand gun ever made is more durable or more reliable than a Ruger BlackHawk...and I dare say more accurate...It's better balanced than it forefather (Peace Maker) smother action than any that I have ever shot (which is a few) and you can't beat Ruger's quality and customer service bar none...how's that for bias Damn fine iron....

I'd go with the Blackhawk but I'm fond of them as I carried a Super Blackhawk for years and took several deer with it. About as foolproof a handgun as you can get. I have a New England Survivor that shoots .45 Long Colts. I like big bullets but it seems a bit underpowered though handloads may solve that issue some.

Yeah, you guys and a set of Remington ballistic charts settled it for me.
Blackhawk it is. The .45LC's a bigger bullet, but the .357's faster, flatter, and hits harder... reservation for me then was the new gun vs used gun thing, but the Ruger's in top shape, so I called the gun shop today an told Gene to set it aside for me and I'll be in to get it by the end of the week.
I'm getting it for dad, he's trading me a S&W .357 with a 4" ported barrel in stainless...a sweet little handgun. I think I'm getting a pretty good deal!
