;D Congratulations to all that have harvested their bird! Here in Ohio the harvest is down a bit,due to the weather. Last year first week total harvest was 10,374 this year 9,054. Season ends 5/17/09. BTW,Paws they harvested 173 this year and 242 last year in Athens County during the first week. All numbers taken from www.ohiooutdoornews.coma publication I highly recommend for hunters, fishermen or outdoorsmen in Ohio. I understand this publication is available in many of the Midwest states. Just insert your state where I posted Ohio in the Webb site. snake-eyes

I have a turkey tag and haven't even left town and probably won't. After spending about 2 wks a month from May to Mar in the field either hunting or working fires I just couldn't get enthused.

Of course I did not get out there until after 09:00 so I expected to see birds on the ground. Upon arrival I saw nothing. As I walked along the edge of the field i spooked two or three birds out of some trees back in the woods. Then while walking up the tractor road I spooked a couple of more birds out of trees and one that was on the ground. I got to my spot and put out a decoy. I sat for maybe three hours or so and heard a turkey that seemed to have been scared by the decoy. I waited a while longer got my gear together and went back down the hill to sit by edge of field. I looked around before going through the gate and did not see anything, but they were there, on the ground across from the small stock pond. And yep, you guessed it, they saw me and flew away. I sat there for a while with nothing showing then left. At least I got one for the season.
