Can some one ples explan to me why It is so hard to be able to make new friends and meet new people that everyone likes the samething,Take the hunting and fishing or camping here in Alabama,I have had so many folks call me and come by and offer me to come visit there club or camp and THAN they are gone.No whare to be found.I call no answer.I send e-mail no replies. These people came to me wanting me to be a part of something I THOUGHT.It makes no sense.I have done nothing wrong. But it like they want to play head games with thye new kid on the block.I sometimes think I should have stayed in North Carolina and just been misable,I thought these folks here were more country and down home.Guess not.

I wish I could explain it but I have run into the same thing everywhere I've gone. The best I can figure is the person gets "excited" and says things "to be nice" but realize after they said it that they didn't mean it.

yedneck, First let me assure you it is not a Southern thing, and I don't know the whys of it. But,I can tell you what helped me: I don't know if you are a Vet or not, but, if you are check with your local VFW or American Legion.I guarantee you will find hunters and fishermen in both groups. If not a Vet check with some of the Fraternal groups in your area. Eagles,Moose,Elks all have hunters and fishermen as members. I personally found what I needed at the VFW and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. You may find it with another group or groups. Good Luck! snake-eyes

Thanks for that info.Makes sense.I am a vet.Vietnam vet even thought I did not get the chance to go because of a car wreck. And I herd here in Opp alabama they just closed up the VFW.Something about not enough bussiness and prolbems with the law waiting down the road to pull people as they drive out on to the main road.So floks stopped going.Opp is a smallplace,But thanks for the info.May still get tonuse that idea.

Lots o fthme small Al communities like Opp are almost clannish. It takes awhile to get on the inside to get the good invites. You going to church? That's how I got my good "honey holes" in Evergreen. I went to church with Eddie Salter and his pastor introduced me around. In no time I was in on some sweeeeeet spots!
