Now I must say I have never hog hunted yet.But want to.Being new to alabama Not thinking anything unnormal to hunting.I was sitting in my trk Close to Opp Alabama.I hear a pack of hounds coming closer.Than they turn and go behind my trk and away from me.BUT they turn and come back.Notthinking ahh they are just running a deer.WOOOOOOOOO Out of the woods about 50yards come a 300 plus wild hog. Dogs about another 100yds behind. Now I am shook. I never thought that I would see one that large in the wild and my frist one ever to see.I am glad I wont hunting.I had buck fever when I was younger. But this site shook me a little wow. But I am still ready to try hog hunting soon I hope.

Hunting them ith hounds up in Opp, huh? Last Alabama hogs I tried to catch, I baited them up outside the weight watchers clinic with a quart of Ben & Jerry's! That big un' you saw wouldn't run much fartrher before he turned to fight. Usually about a half mile or so until the realize they aren't going to shake the hounds off their trail, then they'll turn to fight it out. Damned if that won't get your hair standing up. I've walked into many a hog fight with hounds baying every which way, the boar roaring mad and popping his teeth as he turns and charges hither and thither among the leaping hounds, then you got to walk in close.....CLOSE and slip that knife in his ribs while he's too distracted by the dogs to turn and rip you open to the bone! Yep, I miss that kind of hunting. I have to chase them much more passively these days. It's been months since I've been out after them, but that'll all change soon enough. Archery season opens in another month and I plan on filling the freezer!

Toby, that reminds me of my bear slapping days. Yep, stalk a bear, sneak up on it and slap him on the arse while at the same time pulling a hair. The one that came back with the most hairs (one per individual bear) won. Ol' Albert never did show up at the meeting place we had. We went out and looked for him the next day but never found him.

Toby, I ;D ;D ;D you for giving them little piggies a chance snake-eyes Anybody remember the movie "Home from the Hill" ?Had Robert Mitchum,Eleanor Parker and George Peppard in it. Lots of nasty stuff that,Brother Freddie, would not approve of,but there are a couple of great scenes of hog hunting, that even Freddie would enjoy. If you get a chance, check it out!
