Everyone say hi to Squirrel. He's my older son, Martin -- the one who goes out squirrel hunting and brings in them 200-lb "squirrels" for me to dress out.

Yep, Bevo Francis is in the Rio Grande Hall of Fame for basketball in the 50's. Back then, it was Rio Grande College and now it is the University of Rio Grande and there is now a Community College and a branch of it about four miles from my house near Meigs High School. Snake, you are on top of your sports. ;D ;D

Yep, Bevo Francis is in the Rio Grande Hall of Fame for basketball in the 50's. Thanks, Eaglenest I thought I might of had a brain fart there for a moment. Only reason I remember him was because of his first name and the fact he was a basketball scoring machine.I think he scored 100 points two or three times. Didn't Bob Evans pump a lot of $$$$ into that university?

Oh yes, Bob Evans and company supports URG greatly. Some of his cousins as well. One day in history class our prof said here comes Bob Evans walking in the entrance of Wood Hall and he knew that Bob was looking for him. It was Bob. The only way I knew that was his hat and his build!! Had URG not been named...I am sure it would have been named University of Bob Evans. URG joins the Bob Evans farms down over the hill at the ball fields. When driving home I had to drive down old US 35 to see the horses. The Restaurant at Rio Grande is so relaxing as you enjoy the food you can watch the horses. They used to have cattle, but I believe they have moved them out on the farm where Bob lived. The Bob Evans Farm fest is next month and URG does not have classes on that Friday, so the many clubs from the college can attend the fest and work in the booths. I really enjoyed my couple years at URG. ;D ;D

The only way I knew that was his hat and his build!! He had a certain walk in those Dan Post boots too. I remember the hat and his string tie. I met him at the State Fair one night during the Sale of Champions and even sat on his lap. I think this was the same sale I met Colonel Sanders and Gov. Rhodes. I couldn't have been more than 4 or 5 yrs old. Dad worked as ring-man for Merlin Woodruff, the livestock auctioneer, and was also one of the fair managers. So we got to spend a lot of time at the State Fair. Kinda like a summer home back in those days. Faith, That post was to Eaglenest not yourself. I know your not near my age. I know that. Just making a point that you don't have to be an old fart to keep up on history. Oops! Did I say old fart?

Welcome Squirrel Now ur Mom is really proud Now not to cornfuse you, Beavo is missed spelled it is "BEVO" University of Texas mascot "A Longhorn Steer." the name comes from a A&M Aggies beating Texas 13-0 The aggies stold the Longhorn and branded 13-0 on the side of the steer. Texas in turn rebranded and changed it to BEVO
