Two-Tales This is just a suggestion, use it for what it is worth. I work at Sam's Club and my store donates food and such to these type projects all the time. They particularly like kids groups. You mite give it a try. Here are a few tips that may help. #1 Contact the Club manager....Make an appointment to meet with him. He is the only one that can give an OK on these type donations. #2 When you meet with him take a couple of scouts in uniform and have them present when you bring up a donation. He may turn you down....but to say no in front of two or so scouts may be a little difficult. As they are the shoppers of tomorrow. #3 Have a list of what you need. Buns, hot dogs, hamburgers, condiments, veggies etc, etc.Be specific with what you need. But don't ask for it all. #4 If you know of a business man that belongs to that club, and uses it on a regular basis...ask him to go with you. He don't have to say anything other that he shops there on a regular basis. That manager would hate to loose a business member.
Keep in mind that every Sam's Club has an allocated amount of money for this purpose.....If they don't use it,the $$ will be lowered in the following year.So being the beginning of the year, the coffers are wide open. Now if they do donate to the project, let them know your appreciation by a simple framed certificate, that they can display on their wall at the customer service center.Sam's/Wal-Mart like to see their name posted in a good light on occasion. You did not hear any of this from my E-mail address. snake-eyes

Two Tales, To hear that, but like I said it is entirely up to the individual Club managers. Ours is very receptive to youth groups. Our club does not give away a lot to anyone, but almost always something to about any youth group that ask. Your experience did not work out,and personally I am disappointed in the Sam's Club you dealt with. snake-eyes

Snake,
Don't fret it, it's the New England way....they all stand with thier hands out expecting the folks to help them and buy thier products...and or services...not thinking to when these fine kids grow up they will be the consumers...they don't forget either...

These company owned stores have gotten so big they know that any negative issues will not hurt them enough to matter.

TT, Wow,C&N for 400! Somebody either hit the lottery,or you got a grateful donation.I am thinking 12oz bowls x 400 comes to somewhere in the neighborhood of 300# of C&N .Using 320z as cost facter. Good Luck

Actually we are talking li'l guys here so it'll be more like 5 oz/serving and with that in mind it's only about 15 1/2 gallon of soup...military style dry soup base, just add water and boil for 15 min...with the weather as it is and some of the cubbies not wanting it will probably only make up half that much to start with, with the water on for the rest if needed...gonna do the sammies assy line style butter grill bread down cheese layed then top bread then spray with more butter..flip and wait remove and pan up for serving...by the time the last top is put on the first sammie will be ready to take off...
