Anybody ever shoot or own a handgun made by Hi Point? I been playing around with different handguns and decided that I want to get another .45acp, so looking at all the five and six and seven hundred dollar models, I was about to change my mind, but then I came a across a .45 semi auto, made in America with parts manufactured in America, with a lifetime warranty...new in box for under two hundred bucks! They got 'em on www.gunbroker.com for $179.00 + $25.00 shipping + $20.00 to my buddy's FFL handling fee. I'm going to order one after the first of the month and play with it awhile. I like my Rossi .357 with the ported 3" barrel and rubberized grips. At thirty feet I keep them all in a 3" group shooting Federal 125jhp. And I been shooting the SA.45LC I bought for dad to trade him for the .357 and I like it, but it doesn't feel as good in my hands as the .357 or the accuracy. At thirty feet it's a 5" group with 165 grain bullets. I wish the Rossi had a couple more inches on the barrel though... Anyway, I'm going to get another semi-auto and see if I like it. I'll let ya know.

9mm semi owned by my late Uncle Bennie. I thought is was real junk. I guess it would be OK to shoot it to death and throw it away. I don't think I would want to depend on it for defense. Yeah, for plinking; great, cheap fun!

It's just gonna be a plinker gun, not a self defense weapon. I got my .38 Derringer for CC, the .357 by the bed and the rest are in the gun cabinet. For the price, I gotta find out if it's worth a damn or not. The selling part was that it's MADE IN AMERICA manufactured my parts MADE IN AMERICA, by AMERICAN workers.
Not many gun companies can say that these days...

Once upon a time "Made in America" meant something.

Toby, my li'l buddy..
You should really read what's been said about these guns, yep great price but...if your looking to hit something maybe not...not that they are not reliable shooters, they do go bang when you pull the trigger..as for being MADE IN THE US think again and look them up..the compamy is in Ohio..and some of the guns are made there, but not the .40 or the .45...just so ya know..also they use the blow back ejection method, which makes these poly guns kick like a mothe...er..a beast...

The company website said Made In America by parts Manufactured In America. I just went with that. Some of the guys on another site told me the same thing; they rarely jam, but they kick like mule and have no decent accuracy past twenty feet. Hell, I just wanna make some noise, but if they lied and they aren't really made in the USA....fuggum! I don't HAVE to have a made in USA gun to be happy with a fine firearm, but damned if I'll buy one that's telling a lie about it! I'll do some more poking around before I put in my order.

I knew it was to good to be true...I'd been warned as much by many who have owned them. But, since it was under two hundred INCLUDING shipping and FFL fees, I hadda go and do it. I got it in yesterday and took it out back his morning with a box of Federal Premium .45's. First I noticed is that it's heavier than I thought and the fit in my hand is not quite right. Also, the trigger pull is a mofo, nust be like fourteen pounds or something! Now, everyone told me that the gun is a jammer. I ran six clips through it and to it's credit, it didn't once jam or stovepipe. But the deal breaker is accuracy. I don't know if the barrel's not floated right in the action or what, but at 30ft the sumbitch slings bullets all over the place. About a 7" group is best I could do. If a feller wanted a gun to carry in his truck to bang around and make lots of noise and scare folks...I guess it'd get the job done. It's not a bad looking gun and it cycles well. But it's for sale, lolol. I'm going to save up and get another SA in either .357mag or .44mag I'm thinking. Made In America...really, is that the best we could do???

Too bad you aren't old enough to have been dealing in the 60s when USA meant something important. Now all we make is trash so we can put more green in somebody's pocket. How is your accuracy between the first and 2nd rounds?

About three inches off! I'm used to the wheel guns cutting tight groups at 30 feet!
It was pathetic, I never bothered to back up to forty or farther because the accuracy was so dismal at 30. Never make it as a hunting gun and unless yo plan on letting the sumbitch get real close, I wouldn't want it for self defense either.
You're right Paws, Made In America just doesn't stand for much these days....

It ain't the ammo, Federal Premium's good stuff. I'll take it to the "hood" and sell it for cash, then flip it and report the damn thing stolen from my truck, lol.

I just ran a box of cheap ball ammo by Speer through the gun this morning. It still hasn't jammed or given any malfunctions, but it's so freakin heavy and just don't hit worth a crap.
I also took out my Rossi .357 and sho about twenty tounds od .38 through it and another dozen rounds of Federal Premium 125jhp's in .357 through it. That little revolver os just damn accurate! Out to twenty yards, it stacks 'em in the four inch circle each shot!
I went to the gun range in Brookesville because it's free on Mondays until 2:00pm. I met a guy there that was shooting a BP revolver in .36cal it was a fun little gun. We talked about the HP and he fired a clip through it and offered me a hundred bucks, lol. I got his number, but I hope to get a little better than that for it.

Wish I'd seen this earlier. I have no respect whatsoever for Hi-Point pistols. Their carbine is fair, but the pistols are too heavy, too cheaply made, and too dern OOgly to be of any use to me. I have tried steering people from these for several years now. Some like them, most do not. Personally, I find them too OOgly to even be used as a paper-weight.
