Paws, Thanks for your concern and advice,I really appreciate it.We both have dying wills. No need for extra efforts if the occasion comes up! But,as much as I hate it,bigtime.....They have $$$$ I am not privy to. So as P/O as I am,I am willing to let them blow their big $$$$. All I want is Linda, myself,Deuce and Lucy together in the same bed again! Only a pet lover would understand....

Guys and Gals, I talked to her last night and her spirits were up! ;D The right leg is clear of clots and is much better. Her left leg still has a clot and they are working on it with drugs. She is still taking pain medication. She insist it is not her back but her legs that at least at this time is causing the pain. Although an educated person with more common sense than education, I have to bow to the Drs on these things.

Thanks again guys & gals, I honestly think her physical problems are being taken care of......It is the isolation that she is having problems with....She does not have a person of love with her 24/7.She knows about her beloved basset hound having diabetic seizures, but she has never seen one from him. He is going back to the vet Thurs. Paws, I know you know about such things....He is getting two 12 unit shots a day and is on a Vet prescribed diet, that by the way is not cheap. Between the shots and the special food the bill is maybe close to $25 a week, which is not a serious problem. My question is we are doing everything we have been told to do by the vets and he is still having these seizures. Why the insulin and very special expensive diet. He turned 8 yesterday. Believe when I say this is not about money, but what is needed to prevent these seizures.I have seen this with people on at least two occasions. I know what to do when I see the attack on animal or person, but I do not understand is why it happens? ?

Are you able to test his glucose levels? It sounds like you are able to revive him with honey; right? If so then his sugar is dropping too low causing him to pass out. If this is the case ask your vet to lower the insulin dosage, especially if it is a "carry-over" type. Ask if the Special Diet is all protein, some are. If you need to leave him with the Vet for a couple of days to get a "fasting" glucose level, it might be a good idea especially if you can not do it yourself. If you have to put him on a sliding scale ask the vet to prescribe a glucometer and test strips that take very small samples. Those that test on the arm of a human can test on the dogs ear making the prick more comfortable. Also, if you feed him once a day, you might think about splitting that up into two or three meals scheduling a feeding time close to the time he has been having his seizures along with pre and post meal glucose tests.

I don't know about ear pricks or sliding scales, but I do think Paws is on the money with breaking up the feeding schedule from once or twice a day to five or six times daily.
That's what the vet...er, doctor, told me to do. Eat six small meals instead of three big ones.

Well everyone Mrs snake came home on Thurs from the re-hab center. She is getting around fairly well, with a walker, but not able to do much more. She has not smoked since the day of the surgery ;D which don't surprise me much. But I am she has not drank a beer since coming home. Before the operation she drank exactly 3 beers a day. She has a long road to recovery in front of her,but I think mentally she is doing much better now she is home. Your prayers would still be appreciated. Paws, Had the basset to the vet three times. They lowered his insulin from 12 units to 6 on the first and then back up to 7 on his last.He has not had a seizure since they lowered it to 6.

Hey guys, need some prayers please for my friend Tammy who had surgery yesterday, my Pastor's Mother-In-Law for probable cancer of the throat, their families, and for all of my family for wisdom, peace, and a call to the cross for those who have not made the trip. Thanks in advance.
