Rats are overtaking the feed shed and I sat out there the last couple nights with a Ruger Single Six in .22lr loaded up with rat-shot.
I sat in the shadows about ten yards outside the doorway and placed a small pile of corn in the middle of the floor.
I busted seven out of nine of them little bastards! The two I missed though was just plain fast!
Better'n wasting an evening watching tv!

Sounds like you need me to send you down a barrel of black snakes to take care of the rat population and then tell Chicken to quit shooting the snakes.

She keeps finding them in the chicken pen or she wouldn't be so hard on the damn things, lol. when she realized that that's where her eggs and bitties were going...she kills them on sight!
I ran out of CCI Rat-Shot andtried last night to pop one with a .22 short; I missed the rat and it skipped off the floor and right through the plywood wall!
I gotta get s'more Rat-Shot from Wally-World!
It's a fun little revolver to shoot; damn accurate!

Toby ya need to get one of them horse hair ropes and put it up around the nest boxes..that way them snakes'll stay away from the eggs and bitties..an go after the reason they is there..the rats and mice critters..then ya need to turn that pistola over ta Chicken and let her shoot the rats...I mean if she can hit a snake she sure should be able ta hit a rat...btw them rats will get after your bitties also...

Actually, Chicken's in Nashville right now and will be for the rest of the week. Hoping she does good!
Fred however, has killed eleven rats in the last couple nights. He took my old coonlight with the red lens cover and a .22 Norinco bolt action with a 2X scope.
Dad took back the Ruger, but I'm going to buy one of the Heritage imports that are knockoffs of the single Six. They got 'em on gunbroker.com for as low as $175.00

No, the ratshot is perfectly safe out of the gun. Dad took it back because he uses it out by his barn, lol. I got a used EAA model with the .22/.22mag cylinders for $205 awhile back. It's funny you bring this post back up, because I whacked five rats with it in just t he last four nights, lol.

Is the cylinber to barrel gap adjustable on the six? If so, make sure it is right on before using rat shot. It can blow back and hurt you.
