Any of ya'll ever tried that?
My friend Becky takes a cast iron skillet and a few table spoons of bacon grease melted in it and then opens a few cans of long cut string beans and pours out the water and puts them in th pan and fries them. She puts liberal shakes from the black pepper can over them and she says frying them like thisreally draws them up, so if you have a few folks at the table, have several cans ready.
I ain't tried it yet, but I plan to. Any of you guys do your green beanst hat way?

yes I have, she's right it doesn't realy change them much but the bacon grease...being really hot and coating the beans is the key...have also taken the canned beans and lightly dusted them with seasoned extra fine "baking" flour and tossed them in 350* oil and kinda like dee[ fried them ...ala Paula Dean

Yes. And that isn't Southern fried, it is Chinese or "Chow". I do asparagus the same way then dress them with a sesame oil and basalmic vinegar.

I called it Southern only because I was first introduced to it from a big boobied gal just outside of Atlanta.

Can't say I've ever tried fried green beans. Don't sound good to me. But to each his own. I like my green beans either raw or cooked up with some taters, onion and bacon.

That's the only way I ever ate 'em, Faith! In thefield raw as I picked 'em or boiled with backfat and taters! ;D Love 'em.
Thaought I'd give them a try like this too though...might be good.
