We all know that when a tree falls in the forest that there "IS" a slound. Do you think there might have been ruckus when three Ohio bucks managed to lock their antlers together and drown in a local creek in Albany, Ohio? According to the Sunday Times Sentinal the discvery was made by a local hunter who had the good sense to contact the ODNR who got the proper Fish and Game folks involved to help recover and document the find. The deer include a 122 inch - 7 pointer with broken tine, a 140 inch 10 point buck, and a 169 inch 11 pointer, according to the Sunday Times Sentinal. They were found on the property of Brian Burke by a local forester, Jason Good according to the Sunday Times Sentinal on November 12 and extracated on the 15th by a group of men including Burke and Good. I have a couple pictures of the article that I will post if I can figure out how!

The story is all FUBAR! They were found by a timber surveyer, not a hunter. The story of how they were locked is all felgarcarb as they were/was no witness(es) to the incident.
There is talk of selling the rack to Cabela's. Apparently there are only five known instances of three bucks in lock with two having been reported from Ohio. Albany is North West of me about six miles.

don't really matter who found them...I have seen young (read smaller) bucks gang up on a more mature one..never saw a lock up that ended with either deer dead..no matter what that's still pretty amazing...
Thanks Faith. Those are great pictures! ;)Guys, go to the link and scroll up.

Yes is to does matter! Not who found them, but who "reportedly" found them. Goes to the crediblity of the report and reporter. I agree! Man that would be something phenominal to see or even find.
p.s.:
Hey Mars, I guess the rut was in full swing before 12 Novemeber here!

Ok I get your point..I however did not get to read the Rags article (their site would not let me into the articals)..I only saw the reports from the Management folks and the DNR..so I guess knowing how papers report things..I would naturally find a back up source for the stories anyway...It's a hoot to watch a couple of bucks hammering it out and even more so when you get 3 or 4 whacking away at each other..
Phil, do you remember ever seeing a film of a couple of northern Ohio bucks bang it out on a major byway...had state troopers and local sheriffs department directing traffic as these two brutes beat on each other for hours back and forth across the hyway and into fields and and then back again..in the middle of a storm at night? I have been looking for that clip for years....
Yes, that has been a while. I also remember a few years back up by Chauncy where there were a half dozen cars off the road by the SR13 and SR33 intersect when I drove by watching a big buck that had a hunter "treed" and kicking his butt! A pick up pulled up and opened the passenger door and the hunter jumped out of the tree and into the truck. The buck jumped into the bed and started hammering the window! I don't know what that boy did to that deer but he was some kind of upset! When the truck started rolling the deer jumped out and headed back into the brush up the hill.

well I didn't get a monster buck, but on the last day of ML season (2:15 PM on 12/31/10), I did finally manage to have a shot at a nice doe..field dressed at about 130#
I took Meghan out yesterday for the juvenile deer hunt. More like she took me.
We saw a flock of tom turkies, about 6 birds, a couple of squirrels, a flock of geese and a coyote but not a single deer. Figures. So ends big game for us this year.

Congrats TT!!!
Mars, you guys had a good time out, or so it sounds. Lots of critters moving.
Me? I got skunked what few times I made it out. First time in a long time the Benoit family is eating venison donated by friends. Sometimes, the deer gotta win too, I reckon.
