When we were up there a few years ago, I noticed how all the sports venues, grade school up to pros, used those structures I called 'snow bubbles'. Being the snow loads they get up there, I guess from an economic and repair standpoint, they are the way to go. They just don't look too trusty when the winds hit 40mph or when there's tons of snow. The Metrodome is nothing more than a huge snow bubble on top of a coliseum. I made sure I got to drive by it as often as I could while we were there. It's an awesome structure to look at. Hope they can get it fixed soon. In the meanwhile, I've heard that all ticket holders are getting a refund. Those who decide to head to Ford's Field for tomorrow nights game are getting preferential seating along the 50 yard line. It doesn't help those who traveled into the Twin Cities just for the game and now might get stuck there until the airport reopens. [glow=yellow,2,300]GO VIKINGS!![/glow]

Yadda, yadda, yadda.....Just make sure I get play-by-play colorful commentary from the Koot! Being as they've changed game day, it's only going to be broadcast in maybe four markets. Other than that, you gotta have satellite and pay for that premium sports channel. I'll put on my purple and gold bikini with the cone bra top, and take the Blatz, Jagermeister, pretzles and brats to the deepest snow in our yard. There, I will sit and listen to the Koot's commentary until it's all over. Will be just like being at the game.

This ain't the first time that it's happenned, and I never stop wondering what kind of boner builds a stadium with that kind of roof in an area with that much snow???
Seems to me that it would burst after every blizzard. Lots ofweight they're asking it to support!

Have been hearing some chatter from friends up that way the inflation system was not performing correctly - possibly there was a fluxuation in internal air pressure after the snow accumulated. Anyway you look at it though, the idea of a dome that size in that kind of weather is not to bright. The company that manufactures them (A.S.A.T.I) claims the are capable of "withstanding Category-5 hurricane winds and loads of snow in excess of 50 pounds". www.cascadiastructures.com/air_structures.html

Category five hurricanes??? Horse nipples!!! They are the same bunch that built the Dome at USF in Tampa and that sumbitch collapses about every other year when a BIG t-storm rolls through. A cat-5 hurricane will shred it!
