Just got in from a 3 day turkey safari down in South Florida where I called in a couple turkey for my lil buddy Josh. He didn't get to kill either of them, but he got REAlLY excited just seeing them, lol.
I loded the camper and all of my assorted camping accoutraments and headed out Thursday. I'll be doggoned if I didn't get to use my new Lodge griddle a la Paws! I set it on about eight coals and it worked flawlessly...coulda got away with fewer coals I think, but them pancakes was delicious!!! ;D

Put her to work! Might want to think about leaving that camper loaded and tell Mom and Dad to ready to convoy up. Things gonna get real hot now with Santorum dropping out.

It's loaded up. Only thing I'll have to grab is my clothes and some cash... I do need to shore up on the non perishables that I have stored in there, but I have enough on hand under the bunk to feed two people for at least a week. Dad doesn't have a bug out plan and refuses to consider one. Figures at his age, he'd rather stand his ground and inconvenience them to have to come in after him.

I'm with your Dad. My fallback line is within rifle shot and I can seclude myself for a week and decide whether I want to take it back or continue to retreat. Sharon is looking at a new 4WD and told me she wants it with a hitch on it. Made me laugh.

I am hoping to drive home from WV in a 2013 AWD V6, KIA Sorento SX. Yes, with a hitch....I do live on a farm and there may be a need for a hitch?? Who knows??? Law suit will be over hopefully by June 1st.
Toby, you have a safe trip.

Sharon's gettin' hitched!! Bright thinking lady! That ball following you around all the time does come in handy on a farm. Just make sure what it's attatched to has enough muscle to do the job right. But I wonder what you're getting yourself into if it takes a lawsuit to get hitched.

Gold, silver; like that in a concealed lock box.

Them lil Kia's are surpringly a decent vehicle; Brian has one and it gets good mpg even pulling a load.
Sharon, a hitch is a must on a farm; enjoy the new ride!!!

No KIA this trip. My credit is fine, but monthly income is not enough to finance through a bank. I have plenty in savings, but not an income and I am not using all my savings. They wanted me to get a lesser model..No Way!! If, I had the settlement amount written in concrete with a letter from my lawyer with the amount. No way are they going to know the amount that I am getting, as I can not reveal to anyone. So, now when the mediation is held..I am going to play 3 dealerships against each other for the best deal. The one at Parkersburg, WV, Huntington and the one up here. The one that I want is the same size as my Buick SUV. There are some delership near Columbus, OH.
I can wait and play with the Ins. co. as well, for a go rate which will be up there, since it is new..and less, as it is paid for and not financed.
Mexican tree trimmers are here this AM..their mouth's make more noise than the chain saws! Ha! they are cutting the right-a-way for the power company.

I did, and they were all undocumented working for an AEP sub-contractor on a Sunday morning. Caused quite a rukus!

I'm in the same boat about the income thing. Social Security doesn't pay diddly-shlt and my other incomes are all cash based affairs, lol. Banks don't even want to talk to me. In fact, I'm having to buy the land in Montana with my dad's name on the papers as well as mine because of it. They needed me to make at least $1,500 monthly on SS before they'd consider. I make $850, but I generate a good bit more than that under the table the banks won't acknowledge even though I provided them with copies of my tally books.

Toby, one way to get around that is to put your savings in a Federal Credit Union. Then take out a loan against them as a "Share Secured Loan". You have to retain an amount in savings equal to the current outstanding loan balance but the interest rates are generally a ton less than a bank and you have the security of the savings account drawing interest. A direct deposit of the monthly payment from your SSI check would lock it up solid.
