Fixing to go and knock the piss out of a bunch of tree rats tomorrow! They're all over the place, so I'm a load up the .410 and get after them! I use the .410 because the shot doesn't carry far. The area's getting to populated to be whipping .22 rounds around anymore. I got me a hankering for fried squirrel and I got a f places located where they're overrun.

Gonna hit 'em again... I love me some squirrel! I might even try a pot of squirrel gumbo just to switch things up a bit! I figure I'll take out the old .410 and get to work tomorrow afternoon after I've fed the horses. Also when I say I'm gonna take the "Old .410" out. I mean just that! Its a Stevens single shot built in 1910!!! 103 years old and my all-time favorite squirrel n bunny gun!!!

Got 'em thawed out and dropping them off with Trish. She's going to make me a squirrel stew, squirrel gumbo, and squirrel n rice casserole.
She wants to try out our recipes to be certain they're right and get an idea of portion sizes.
Love that woman!
I'll leave her place and head to the hospital to be with my family during dad's surgery today...

We dressed out a mess of squirrel last fall and put them in the freezer. I don't like to hunt them in spring #1 because they've used up all their reserves over the winter and #2 because there's better things to hunt this time of the year.

I hunt 'em both Fall and Winter. Sometimes I just get a taste for them and nothing else will do! Usually my Fall squirrels go straight to the skillet for frying and then make some gravy to go with my biscuits! This time of year, its great in gumbo and stews. But this last fourteen, I dropped off with my gal Trish to experiment with a few new recipes I wrote up for our cookbook being published by Random House. The recipes from our book will be featured on the pilot for our cooking show and she wants to practice, lol Love that gal's cooking!
