No garden this year... to much going on and nobody to tend it. Reckon the local farmers will just get a bit more of my business this year is all.

Living room has about 60 tomato plants, 18 eggplant plants, 5 red raspberry bushes, 3 grave vines, 8 cayenne pepper plants, 6 five-inch pots each of basil, oregano, rosemary, peppermint and spearmint. Kitchen table is occupied with a box brooding chicks. Hope to go out next week and get some goslings. Hoping for a couple warm dry days so I can get things ready outside.

Good Friday's right around the corner... Gonna feel wrong not to be sewing some seeds.

I dug through the seed box and found a couple pounds of peas. If it ever dries out a little, I've got to get them in the ground. Went and priced sweet corn seed and darn near had a coronary!! $23 a pound (amounts to about 4 cups worth). Wondering if I wouldn't be farther ahead just picking a bunch of corn out of the beef feed and plant that. After all, I always preferred the flavor of field corn over any of the garden varieties. It's probably Round-up ready, too. Might even over plant what we'd use and let the rest dry for the calves and chickens. Calves would have a field day on a little silage.

Good Friday's right around the corner... Gonna feel wrong not to be sewing some seeds. I maybe could have planted some early stuff today. Ground is still a little too cold and wet even for peas and cabbage. Got busy figuring fence supplies and by the time I got home, I'd pretty much ran out of daylight. At least I got the raised beds cleaned out and turned. Got a feeling we're going to see some heavy nematode damage this year in the early crops since the ground never had a chance to actually freeze.

Weather and ground are perfect for planting this year... Nobody to help prep the garden, nobody to help tend the garden, no gumption to put aside a dozen other chores to do it alone... I was right two weeks ago; Good Friday did not feel right at all, not having my hands in the soil.

Sorry to hear you maters got fried. Wish I was closer. I'd line you up with ready to plant replacements right now. I've got 60 here in the living room that are over a foot tall. Still a good three or four weeks before I can plant outside. Even longer for the peppers and eggplant. I may end up transplanting all of these into buckets and setting them in the spare bedroom before then.
If it dries up a little this coming week, I'm going to get the peas planted. I don't dare plant beans until the lilacs start to fade. Lilacs leaf buds are just starting to swell. So I've got a good while to go.
