Paw, I agree with Brian on the 3/4 ton truck. You will need something that has a better suspension, and is designed to pull a load. From the way you described what you want to do to the camper, you will need something that is capable of pulling it. A 3/4 ton is designed to pull larger loads but will drink the gas. Not trying to rain on your parade but just trying to point out something you may not have thought of. Being a truck driver I tend to think along those lines ;D

;D Now we're cookin! I like the 250 idea and the exterior sink too! That is a terrific idea considering grills, smokers, pots and pans, etc. Maybe even some kind of a shower head gizmo too for the really crusty, nasty, visitors! Love that flag paint job there BB. Where did you get that pic? I'll try to get some pictures up this weekend.

You don't need a 250. I have a F-150 thats been "beefed" up for towing/trailering.If you want a fancy paint job I can get in touch with a friend over in Indiana that does great work at very good prices. Case of beer might do it but AFTER he's done. ;D

I have a cousin here Mars that is a really great artist if you can get him going in the right direction. He has done a little work with an air brush so I was thinking of just buying him a set up for painting the camper and vehicle. Thinking of a Civil War scene on one side, and a collage of camp scenes on the other with the OCC logo, and a flag on the tail end. Anyone know where I can get "high temperature" resistant paints in bold colors?

Paw, Try a parts store for the paint. I think you can get them there because of they sell paint that is used on motors and thats high temperature

Awe shucks!
I saw where you had updated the post and was expecting photos of the new camper, all refurbished and ready for the road.
Next time around, why not look into a bus?

yeah Phil, it worked for me...You can find them for a few hundred bucks all over the place down here. I'll even help you out and build you a porch off the back bumper. That way you can step out back and pee when you need and not even have to stop....

Just remember, cruise control is not the same deal as automatic pilot! At least that's what they keep tellin' me! ;D And peeing while going down the interstate just gets the troopers so dang upset. Make sure you're on a nice stretch of 50 or 7. Those guys don't care quite so much.

My half brother, I understand, has a bus and three or four campers that he needs to get rid of. Word is everything is in working order. Maybe I can get a deal, being family!

Phil, Don't sweat the troopers. If they don't like you peeing off the back porch, then turn around and "blow them a kiss" ;D ;D If that don't settle them down you could do your best clean car/bird imitation....... ;D

Or maybe an old bread truck, UPS truck, or if you want a little smaller an old mail truck.

Mail truck? He wouldn't have enough room to crack an egg.
A UPS truck is a thought. They sold some a while back at the big machinery auction in Tampa and if I'd have had the extra money ;aying around, I'd have got one.
An outdoor videographer named Dan Fitzgerald has one that he used to hunt out of and was featured in some of his old hunting videos in the early nineties. It was a souped up, custom RV with a great camo paint job.
I've always been a little envious of it.
A bus though... That could be a real luxurious redneck RV!
