Alright guys and gals, I need your help! I'm trying to find a source for a reflector oven that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and your first born child. Any ideas?

How big of an oven do you need?...you can build one very easily out of cardboard or if you prefer luan plywood...and line the inside of the cardboard with aluminum foil..or in the case of the plywood, with roof flashing...install a rack and bake away...same thing can be done with sheet metal if you have access to it...

Here is one built to specs used as early as the 17th century. It has a spit and an access door in the back so you don't have to stand in the way of the fire to baste . It runs $450.00 and is class!! Can be used for virtually all reenacting where hearth or pit fire cooking is done. www.sover.net/%7Eottertin/ottertin/cooking.html

I picked up a small reflector from campmor some years gone by. Was only about $25 but will only handle a 5x9 pan. perfect for biscuits and brownies, but not much else. Have tried the card board "easy bake" box before. works great. Each lump of charcoal will add about 35 degrees. so you can guestimate the temp if you don't use an oven thermometer.

I had a camper a number of years ago, which I just about left for dead on my in laws property...heck I thought about leaving the wife and kids there too ;D...well anyway, I had one of those small reflector ovens and used it on one of the burners on top of the camper stove...it also was cheap, and it did enough to keep me happy....most of the time though, we BBQ'd and use a camp fire...I dont know how big of a stove you want...maybe some of the usual catalogues will have one....
