I was born in Torrington CT in the year of our Lord 1805. I left Connecticut with all I owned, one horse, one Hawken rifle, one knife,50rds of ball and blanket for Texas in 1835 and fought with Sam Houston at the battle of San Jucinto in 1836. Joined Gen Winfield Scott as a scout and fought the Mexican Army at the Battle of Chapultipeck(SP) in 1848. Came North with the army. Found a job as a Kitchen Mary and a scout with Union forces after the first Bull Run..............dont know which job I like better, because my legs aint what they used to be,and I aint gettin a bit younger...cept a lot more ornry !!. Now I sit awaitin for another Southern raid,I'll drink my barley whiskey and pretend I'm not afraid..................
